Part of the New Holland Repair Manuals.
Print number 47381457A covers the New Holland E140CSR crawler excavator from serial YH07-09001 up. The Mitsubishi D04EG-TAA engine service manual is bound in behind it.
It gives you relief settings and test procedures. It also covers Mechatro self diagnosis, error code tables, and teardown of the pump, control valve, swing and travel motors, cylinders and undercarriage. One gap: the machine-level hydraulic system and electric system chapters are abridged in this copy. The hydraulic system chapter has only its summary pages and the electric system chapter only its contents page.

New Holland E140CSR Common Problems This Manual Covers
Error code B013 shows on the display and boom up has gone slow.
The controller sets B013 when the boom up pressure sensor input drops below 0.1 V. Check sensor SE-3 first and replace it if it has failed. Next, check the wiring between the sensor and the controller at CN-126F and CN-101F using the wiring checking procedure. Only then suspect the Mechatro controller, and confirm the error clears after you replace it.
Manual Section: Troubleshooting by Error Codes p. 703All controls are dead or slow.
Start with fuse No.4 (10A). If it has blown, find the short-circuited section before fitting a new one. Pull the pilot line filter apart and clean it if it is clogged. Then measure pilot primary pressure at the gear pump at high idling. If you read less than 4 MPa, check the gear pump and its relief valve.
Manual Section: Troubleshooting by Trouble p. 768Boom up is slow and the machine feels short on power.
Put a gauge on the boom up remote control pressure at full lever and high idling. It must read 3.0 MPa or more, otherwise check the remote control valve. Then check the secondary pressure of the P1, P2 unload proportional valve at boom up full lever. It must be 0.5 to 1.2 MPa, otherwise replace the proportional valve.
Manual Section: Troubleshooting by Trouble p. 773The engine bogs down or stalls under hydraulic load.
With the lever in neutral at high idling, measure secondary pressure at the P1, P2 pump proportional valve, ports a3 and a4. It must sit between 0.5 and 1.0 MPa, otherwise replace the proportional valve. Then check the pump regulator spring visually for breakage or damage. Replace it if it is damaged.
Manual Section: Troubleshooting by Trouble p. 770Frequently Asked Questions
Which machine does this service manual cover, and is the engine manual included?
It covers the New Holland E140CSR crawler excavator, serial YH07-09001 and up, print number 47381457A from New Holland Kobelco Construction Machinery. The Mitsubishi D04EG-TAA engine service manual is appended. It has overhaul, common rail fuel, lubrication, cooling, inlet and exhaust, electrical and adjustment chapters. p. 1
What are the E140CSR main relief, overload relief and pump flow figures?
Main relief (ATT) is 34.3 MPa (4970 psi) +0.7 / -0.5. Boom overload relief is 37.8 MPa (5480 psi), and swing relief is 28.0 MPa (4060 psi). Pilot primary pressure is 5.0 MPa (725 psi). There are two variable displacement axial piston pumps at 130 L/min x 2 at 7.8 MPa, plus a 20 L/min gear pump for the pilot circuit. p. 88
What are the E140CSR engine specifications?
It runs a 4 cylinder Mitsubishi D04EG-TAA, 3.331 L (203.27 cu-in), rated 74 kW (101 PS) at 2,000 min-1. Compression ratio is 17.0 and firing order is 1-3-4-2. High idling is 1,980 ~ 2,020 min-1 and low idling 1,080 ~ 1,120 min-1. Fully equipped, the machine weighs 14,400 kg (31,750 lb), with a 3,310 kg counterweight. p. 28
Does the manual list the error codes for the E140CSR controller?
Yes. The troubleshooting by error codes chapter gives a table for each Mechatro controller code. Each table covers the judging condition, the symptom and the checks in order. Examples are B013 Disconnection of boom up pressure sensor, K014 Adhesion of battery relay terminal and R174 Failure of engine forcible stop relay. Engine ECU failure codes are listed too. p. 696
Does the manual include wiring diagrams and hydraulic schematics?
No. The machine-level electric and hydraulic circuit chapters are abridged in this copy: the hydraulic system chapter has only its summary pages and the electric system chapter only its contents page, so those chapters' diagrams are not included. p. 197
