Check the plate before you start: if the serial prefix reads PV13 or higher, this New Holland service manual, publication S5PV0023E02, is written for your E27B compact hydraulic excavator and its 3TNV82A-SYB engine.

Most repairs happen with nobody around to ask why the boom drifts or the slew hesitates. These 765 pages answer that: hydraulic circuit operation, electrical diagrams with harness and cable lists, component overhaul for the hydraulic pump, control valve, slewing motor, travel motor and cylinders, plus full teardown of the upper slewing structure and the undercarriage.

Separate troubleshooting chapters for the hydraulic system, the electrical system and the engine send you to the right pressure test or circuit check before anything comes apart, and the equipment and harness lists let you name the exact component you need so the part you order is the part that fits.

New Holland E27B Common Problems This Manual Covers

Weak digging force under load

The bucket stalls in hard material and cycle times stretch out, usually a relief setting or a tired pump rather than a worn bucket. The Hydraulic System section lists main relief valve P1 and P2 at 23.0 MPa (3340 psi) and the over load relief valves at 27.5 MPa (4000 psi) and 25.5 MPa (3700 psi), so you can gauge the circuit instead of guessing.

Manual Section: Hydraulic System p. 126
Slow or hesitant swing

A slew that drags on start-up or coasts past the mark points at the slewing motor, the swing bearing or the relief setting feeding that circuit. The Specifications section gives a slewing speed of 8.7 rpm as the benchmark to time the machine against before you pull anything apart.

Manual Section: Specifications p. 22
Spongy controls after hydraulic work

Jerky boom motion or noisy pump whine after a hose, pump or cylinder change is trapped air, not a failed component. The air bleeding procedure covers bleeding the pump and slewing motor at the upper drain plug, then running the engine more than 5 minutes at low speed with no load to clear the travel motor and cylinders.

Manual Section: Outline p. 13
Track sag and undercarriage wear

Loose track chain, a thrown track on a tight turn, or dry-sounding rollers are the standard hour-meter tax on a compact excavator. The Travel System section covers the crawler, upper and lower rollers, front idler, sprocket and travel motor as separate repair procedures.

Manual Section: Travel System p. 438
Boom or bucket cylinder drift

A boom that settles overnight or an arm that creeps under load is usually cylinder seals or a leaking spool, and the two need different repairs. The Components System section carries the cylinder and control valve teardown so you can identify which one is passing oil.

Manual Section: Components System p. 168
Hard starting or rough idle

Long cranking, white smoke on a cold morning or an idle that hunts usually traces to fuel delivery, air in the fuel line or a glow circuit fault. The engine troubleshooting section walks the symptoms in order rather than sending you straight to the injection pump.

Manual Section: Troubleshooting Engine p. 532
Dead electrics or flat battery

A machine that will not crank after sitting, or a battery that keeps going down over a weekend, is a charging or parasitic draw problem you have to trace through the harness. The electrical troubleshooting section covers general, attachment, travel and deceleration faults, and pairs with the electric circuit diagram in the Electrical System chapter.

Manual Section: Troubleshooting Electrical System p. 520

Frequently Asked Questions

Which machines does this manual cover?

The New Holland E27B compact hydraulic excavator with serial prefix PV13 and higher, fitted with the 3TNV82A-SYB engine. It is New Holland publication S5PV0023E02. Check the serial plate against that prefix before you buy so you know the procedures and diagrams match your machine.

What are the New Holland E27B relief valve pressure settings?

The Hydraulic System section lists main relief valve P1 and P2 at 23.0 MPa (3340 psi), the over load relief valves at 27.5 MPa (4000 psi) and 25.5 MPa (3700 psi), the slew relief valve at 18.5 MPa (2680 psi) and the pilot relief valve at 3.5 MPa (508 psi). p. 121

How do I bleed air from the hydraulics?

Loosen the upper drain plug and bleed the hydraulic pump and slewing motor with the engine running at low idle. Bleed the travel motor and cylinders by running the engine more than 5 minutes at low speed without load, then bleed the pilot line with a series of digging, slewing and travel moves. p. 13

Does it cover undercarriage and track repair?

Yes. The Travel System section runs from the crawler and track links through the upper roller, lower roller, front idler, sprocket and travel motor, with disassembly and assembly procedures for each. Standard maintenance times for undercarriage work are listed separately in the Standard Maintenance Time Table. p. 438

Is this New Holland E27B manual a PDF I download?

You get a 765-page searchable PDF that downloads instantly after checkout. Open it on your laptop, tablet, or phone, and bring it right to the shop floor.

Can I print this New Holland E27B manual?
