Remove the fuel injectors and test the nozzle opening pressure. Verify the pressure reaches 200 - 210 kg/cm² as specified on page 87. If pressure falls below this limit, clean or replace the nozzle assembly. Reinstall and torque the retainer nut to 0.4 - 0.5 kg-m.

Inspect the cooling water pump for internal wear. Drain the coolant and remove the pump housing. Measure the water pump impeller to body clearance to ensure it measures exactly 0.3 - 0.7 mm as detailed on page 117. Replace the impeller if the clearance exceeds standard limits.

Adjust the intake and exhaust valve lash. Remove the valve cover and rotate the engine to top dead center. Set the valve clearance to 0.27 - 0.33 mm (0.0106 - 0.0130 in) using a feeler gauge as instructed on page 32. Recheck clearances after tightening the adjustment locknuts.
