Case 3394, 3594 Common Problems This Manual Covers

Harsh or hesitant power shift from 2 to 3, 4 to 5, or during downshifts

A harsh or hanging power shift usually traces to the power shift transmission hydraulic control, a malfunction or a sticking control valve. Check the power shift pressures against spec, inspect the control valve and clutch pack operation, and verify the transmission fluid level and condition. The power train section gives the pressures, valve service and adjustment.

Manual Section: Power Train
Weak or erratic remote hydraulic power at the couplers

Weak remote hydraulics point to the pump, the relief setting or a worn control valve. Run the flow and pressure test, the pump should deliver 28 to 30 GPM with a 2250 PSI maximum system pressure, and check the relief and the fluid condition before pulling the pump. The hydraulic section covers the test points and pump service.

Manual Section: Hydraulic
Engine loses power or smokes under load

Power loss or heavy smoke on the turbocharged 504BDT is usually fuel delivery, an air intake restriction or a turbocharger problem. Change the fuel and air filters, check injection pump delivery and boost, and confirm the rated and idle speeds against spec. The fuel system and engine sections cover the injection pump and turbocharger service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Case part number 8-27440R0 cover?

It is the full factory service manual for the Case 3394 and 3594 tractors, 1,922 pages covering the 504BDT turbo diesel engine, fuel, electrical, steering, power shift power train, brakes, hydraulics and accessories, plus a How It Works reference.

My 3394 shifts harsh from power shift 2 to 3 or hangs on downshifts, where do I start?

That harsh or hesitant power shift usually points to the power shift transmission control, a hydraulic control malfunction or a sticking valve. The power train section covers the power shift, the control valve and the pressure checks to isolate it.

What are the front axle differential torque values?

The General and Power Train sections carry the standard torque specifications and the MFD front axle service, including the differential, along with the fluid capacities for the axle and planetaries.

What is the remote hydraulic system pressure and flow?

The remote hydraulic pump flows 28 to 30 GPM at 2100 rpm with a maximum system pressure of 2250 PSI. The hydraulic section covers the pump, the relief settings and the test procedure.

Is this the same manual a Case dealer uses?

It is the factory service manual (part number 8-27440R0), the same step by step repair, specification and torque data the 3394 and 3594 were built and serviced to.
