Case TX130/TX140/TX170 Common Problems This Manual Covers
Case TX130, TX140, TX170 hydraulic transmission temperature warning light comes on and clutch slips under load p. 193
Inspect the transmission cooler circuit and clutch assemblies. Check the A clutch pack disc clearance on page 217 to ensure it is within 1.22 to 2.74 mm. Verify the maximum hydraulic transmission oil temperature stays below 120 °C as noted on page 193. Replace worn discs.
Manual Section: Powershift Gearbox TroubleshootingEngine stalls out during heavy boom operation and radiator coolant boils over p. 29
Test the cooling system pressure. Inspect the radiator cap and verify it holds a pressure of 1 bar as specified on page 29. Check the intake valve clearance on page 134 and adjust to 0.25 mm if necessary. Drain and flush the coolant circuit.
Manual Section: Engine TroubleshootingBoom articulation is sluggish and primary hydraulic functions respond slowly during continuous heavy lifting cycles p. 348
Drain the reservoir and verify the hydraulic system total capacity is exactly 185 litres as shown on page 348. Replace the hydraulic oil filter if it has exceeded the 250 hours change interval. Inspect the main pump for internal wear and verify all line connections.
Manual Section: Hydraulic SystemMachine barely moves forward in high gear and throws a transmission error code p. 202
Inspect the modulation valve operation and verify the solenoid cartridge torque is between 22 and 27 Nm, detailed on page 202. Measure the B clutch disc clearance on page 219 and confirm it measures 1.22 to 2.74 mm. Replace the clutch pack if out of spec.
Manual Section: Powershift Gearbox TroubleshootingFrequently Asked Questions
What are the torque specs for Case TX170 axle mounting bolts?
The tightening torque for the axle levelling cylinder fixing screws (6) M20x1,5x200 is 600 Nm. For the crown flange nuts (4), the initial torque wrench setting is 120 Nm, and the final torque wrench setting is 255÷285 Nm. Planetary carrier cover screws (1) should be tightened to 40÷50 Nm.
What are the replacement specifications for Hydraulic pump?
The hydraulic pump specifications are: New pump delivery of 130 lt./min at 2500 rpm at 230 bar. For a worn pump, the delivery is 110 lt./min at 2500 rpm at 230 bar.
