JCB JCB T4F 444 Elec Engine (4 Cyl), T4F 448 Elec Engine (4 Cyl) Common Problems This Manual Covers
JCB T4F 444 or 448 engine cranks and fires but dies completely after a few seconds
Inspect the fuel delivery lines and filter for air intrusion. Replace the fuel filter element and torque it to 35 N·m as shown on page 383. Bleed the fuel system and verify return flow rates during cranking before attempting another start.
Manual Section: Fuel and Exhaust System p. 383Intermittent misfire under load with open-circuit fault codes triggering during heavy vibration
Test the injector wiring harness connections for continuity. If replacing a faulty injector, always use a new unit and tighten the injector clamp bolt to exactly 28 Nm. Check page 412 for the correct clamping sequence to prevent fuel rail leaks.
Manual Section: Engine Fault-Finding (General) p. 412Temperature gauge spikes into the red zone during normal operation and coolant boils over
Check the radiator cap pressure setting on page 530 against the specification in the manual. Inspect the thermostat and water pump for leaks. When installing a new coolant pump, tighten the fixing screws to the torque value specified in the Cooling System section.
Manual Section: Cooling System p. 530Engine turns over very slowly or refuses to crank when turning the ignition key
Measure battery voltage drop during a crank attempt. If the starter motor is faulty, replace the complete starter motor as instructed on page 286. Secure the new unit by torquing the starter motor securing bolts to 47 ± 4 Nm.
