Factory workshop manual 87709239A for the New Holland E225BSR and E225BSRLC, and it treats them as two machines, not one: the standard carriage at 22 300 kg and 8680 mm overall, the LC at 22 700 kg and 8830 mm, each with its own tables. The part that saves you money is the complete HINO engine manual bound in as its own section - cylinder head and block, fuel injection, EGR, turbocharger, air compressor, engine ECU diagnosis codes - no second book to buy. The mechatro control system gets real coverage too: controller inputs and outputs, pump and valve logic, the H, S, A and B work modes, sensor calibration. Circuit sheets, disassembly procedures and three ways into troubleshooting round it out.

New Holland E225BSR, E225BSRLC Common Problems This Manual Covers

Machine feels weak and cycle times have gone soft, but nothing is obviously broken.

Test before you tear down. The Maintenance Standards section gives the pass/fail numbers: main relief 34.3 MPa, boom up 3.1 to 3.7 seconds, swing 4.1 to 5.3 seconds per revolution, all measured at 50 C oil. Compare, then let the results point you at pump, relief or a leaking cylinder.

Manual Section: Tools, Maintenance Intervals and Standards p. 93
Error code on the monitor and the machine has derated or an actuator has stopped responding.

Look the code up in the error code listing, which gives the cause and the corrective action for each one, then use the trouble diagnosis mode to watch the suspect sensor signal live on the monitor. That usually separates a failed sensor from a wiring problem before you buy parts.

Manual Section: Troubleshooting by Error Codes p. 629
Machine pulls to one side when travelling, worst in second speed.

Measure it first: allowable travel deviation at second speed is 0 to 240 mm over a 20 m run on iron shoes. Out of spec, work through the symptom fault tree, then the Travel System section covers the travel motor, reduction gear and swivel joint that cause it.

Manual Section: Travel System p. 565
Engine is down on power or smoking, and the excavator side checks out fine.

The bound in HINO coverage has failure diagnosis by engine status plus the engine ECU diagnosis codes and the procedure to read them. From there the fuel injection, EGR and turbocharger sections carry the repair, with standard and limit values listed by system so you know what to measure.

Manual Section: Engine Failure Diagnosis and Diagnosis Codes p. 731

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this manual cover the engine, or do I need a separate HINO book?

The engine is all here. A full HINO manual is bound in as its own section: assembly and disassembly sequence, fuel injection, EGR emission control, cylinder head and block, camshaft and valve system, turbocharger, air compressor, starter and alternator, plus the engine ECU diagnosis codes and how to read them. The J08E in this machine is rated 114 kW (155 PS) at 2000 min-1 in H mode, and the standard and limit values for it are listed by system. p. 92

Can I diagnose the error codes the monitor shows?

Yes, and by two routes. There is a full error code listing with cause and corrective action for each code, plus the controller self diagnosis output. If there is no code, the symptom based fault trees walk hydraulic, electrical and engine complaints step by step. The manual also shows how to enter the on board trouble diagnosis mode and interpret what the monitor puts out, which is how you check sensor signals without a laptop. p. 629

Does it cover both the E225BSR and the E225BSRLC long carriage?

Both, with separate tables where they differ. Operating weight fully equipped is 22 300 kg for the standard and 22 700 kg for the LC, overall length 8680 mm against 8830 mm. Attachment reach and working ranges are given for each, so you are not guessing which column applies to your machine. p. 731

Are the actual test pressures and cycle times in there?

Yes, with tolerances and test conditions. Main relief is 34.3 MPa (4970 psi) with +0.7 / -0 tolerance, pilot primary 5.0 MPa (725 psi), measured with hydraulic oil at 50 C plus or minus 5 and cleanliness NAS 9 or better. Cycle times too: boom up 3.1 to 3.7 seconds, arm in 3.0 to 3.6, bucket digging 2.4 to 3.0, swing 4.1 to 5.3 seconds per revolution. That is enough to bench a tired machine against factory numbers. p. 218

Is undercarriage and final drive work covered, or just the hydraulics?

The travel system has its own coverage: travel motor and reduction gear, track chain and shoes, idler and recoil spring, rollers and sprocket, with maintenance standard values and wear limits so you can measure a worn undercarriage instead of eyeballing it. Component internal construction for the travel motor is shown as well. p. 23
