This is the New Holland TC5090 Tier 3 service manual, part number 48040924, from CNH Industrial Latin America.

It covers six TC5090 Hydrostatic Machine Tier III variants from PIN HCCY3595HGCG04491 and above. You get hydrostatic pressure tests and schemas, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electrical sheets SH02 to SH31 and DTC fault codes. It also covers every crop system, from the header belt to the unload tube. The engine section covers removal, installation and engine-mounted systems only.

Troubleshooting tables in the brake, compressor, battery and starter sections give a cause and a remedy for each symptom, and the hydrostatic pump settings are printed with both bar and psi.

New Holland TC5090 Common Problems This Manual Covers

Service brakes lose efficiency

The service brakes troubleshooting chart lists air in the circuit as a cause. Bleed the system using the brake pedal and bleeding procedure. The same brakes and controls section also covers the brake pedals, the calipers and discs, and the parking brake, so the related checks are in one place.

Manual Section: Hydraulic service brakes - Troubleshooting p. 525
Pneumatic compressor is noisy

The pneumatic compressor troubleshooting table lists low engine oil level as one cause of a noisy compressor. Check the engine oil level and fill it to spec. That's 15.0 l for the engine alone or 16.0 l with a filter change. If the noise stays, work through the compressor service and pressure regulator procedures.

Manual Section: Pneumatic compressor - Troubleshooting p. 615
Battery does not charge

Before you blame the alternator, the battery troubleshooting table sends you to the terminals. Loose or corroded terminals are a listed cause, so clean and tighten the connections. If it still won't charge, run the battery testing procedure. Then move on to the alternator preliminary tests and component tests.

Manual Section: Battery - Troubleshooting p. 1006
Slow starter motor speed

The engine starting system troubleshooting chart lists loose or corroded battery connections as a cause of slow starter motor speed. Clean and tighten those connections before you pull anything off the machine. If it still cranks slowly, the starter testing procedure and specifications will show whether the starter itself is at fault.

Manual Section: Engine starter - Troubleshooting p. 1018

Frequently Asked Questions

Which machines does the New Holland TC5090 Tier 3 service manual cover?

It covers six TC5090 Hydrostatic Machine Tier III variants, all from PIN HCCY3595HGCG04491 and above. Four of them are feeder short with fixed shoe, feeder short with self leveling shoe, rice with feeder long and fixed shoe, and rice with feeder short. The other two have no straw walker: one is feeder long with fixed shoe, the other feeder short. Check your PIN plate before ordering. The book is part number 48040924, dated March 2017. p. 2

How much engine oil does the New Holland TC5090 combine take?

The engine takes 15.0 l, or 16.0 l if you change the filter at the same time. The manual calls for AMBRA SUPER SAE 15W40. Each final reducer takes 5.0 l, and the hydraulic systems section lists an oil reservoir capacity of 40 l for the hydrostatic transmission. The engine and final reducer figures are in the consumables table at the front of the book. p. 40

What are the hydrostatic drive pressures on the New Holland TC5090?

The high pressure setting on hydrostatic pump port A is 420.0 bar (6090.0 psi). Supply pressure is 20 bar (290 psi), and maximum oil working temperature is 93 °C (199 °F). The pump's maximum displacement is 75.0 cm³/rev (4.6 in³/rev). The pressure test procedures and hydrostatic schemas show where to put your gauges. p. 414

What speeds are specified for the TC5090 cleaning fan and straw chopper?

Cleaning fan velocity is 350 - 1000 RPM, set through the fan speed variator. The straw chopper runs at 1600 RPM for corn and 2800 RPM for other crops. Beater speed is 875 RPM. The crop adjustments and grain loss measurement pages help you confirm the settings once you're cutting. p. 1572

Does the New Holland TC5090 service manual include wiring diagrams, hydraulic schemas and fault codes?

Yes. Electrical schematic sheets SH02 to SH31 come with component lists, starting at p.871. Hydrostatic transmission and hydraulic system schemas are included too. The FAULT CODES - DTC section lists codes such as E124 - Water in Fuel and E135 - Coolant Temperature High. p. 871
