This is the factory repair manual for the New Holland TV145 bidirectional tractor. Its layout tells you what kind of machine this is: instead of a front and a rear axle there is an engine-end axle and a cab-end axle, each with its own section, and the operator station turns to face either way. The engine section covers the in-line six-cylinder 7.5 litre turbocharged and intercooled diesel with its full clearances, and the hydraulic section is the largest in the book, running from page 922 to page 1501 with the pump flows, the rated and dead-head pressures and the compensator setting.

New Holland TV145 Common Problems This Manual Covers

Hydraulic functions are slow or an implement runs weakly.

Test against the manual's three figures before you touch the pump. Rated pressure is 197 bar, maximum dead-head 214 bar, and the pressure compensator should be set to 207 to 214 bar at zero flow. A pump that reaches dead-head but starves under load is a compensator or a flow problem, not a worn pump. Check the filter too, since its bypass relief opens at only 6.8 bar and a clogged element quietly bypasses dirty oil into the system.

Manual Section: SECTION 35 - HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS
A remote valve will not run an implement at the expected speed.

Match the implement to the valve section. The blue detent section, for instance, passes 11.4 to 114.6 L/min (3 to 30 US gpm), and an implement demanding more than the section can pass will always feel slow no matter how healthy the pump is. Confirm which pump the tractor carries, 114 L/min or 123 L/min, then work the valve section chapters and the pressure test procedure.

Manual Section: SECTION 35 - HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS
An axle or final drive fault, and the parts book does not match what you see.

Remember which end you are working on. On this tractor the axles are not interchangeable front-to-rear: the engine-end axle has its own section, and so does the cab-end axle, each with its own bevel drive, differential, final drives and bearing settings. Identify the end first, then follow that section's procedure and its preload and backlash figures rather than assuming a conventional layout.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the TV145 different from a conventional tractor?

It is bidirectional. The operator station reverses so the tractor works in either direction, and the manual reflects that: there is no front axle and rear axle, there is an engine-end axle covered at pages 482 to 553 and a cab-end axle at pages 554 to 653, each with its own bevel drive, differential and final drives. The PTO section covers drives at both ends.

What engine is fitted and what does it make?

An in-line six-cylinder turbocharged and intercooled diesel of 7.5 litres (456.0 cu in), rated at 114 kW (153 Bhp) at 2200 rpm with a 17.5:1 compression ratio. Low idle is 800 rpm and high idle 2375 rpm. The engine section carries the full clearances, the compression test and the overhaul.

What hydraulic pressures and flows should I be seeing?

The system is rated at 197 bar (2857 psi) with a maximum dead-head pressure of 214 bar (3100 psi), and the pump's pressure compensator is set to 207 to 214 bar (3000 to 3100 psi) at zero flow. Pump flow is 114 L/min (30 US gpm) on the standard pump and 123 L/min (32.5 US gpm) on the higher-flow one. The hydraulic filter bypass relief opens at 6.8 bar (100 psi).

Are the remote valve flow ranges given?

They are. The blue detent valve section, for example, is rated 11.4 to 114.6 L/min (3 to 30 US gpm). The hydraulic section runs from page 922 to page 1501 and is the largest in the manual, covering the pumps, the valve sections, the three-point hitch, the steering supply and the pressure test procedures.

How big is the manual and can I search it?

It is 2185 pages in English, a searchable and printable PDF. Search the text, print the pages you need for the bench, and keep the rest on a laptop in the workshop.

What format is this New Holland TV145 manual in?
