Part of the New Holland Repair Manuals.
Stamped on the block, the engine number tells you which of these you have: F3DE3684A, F3DE3684B, F3DFA613A, F3DFA613B, F3DFE613A or F3DFE613B, including the *E001, *E002, *A001 and *A002 build variants. All of them are covered here, in New Holland publication 84474511.
These are 135 mm bore, 150 mm stroke engines displacing 12880 cm³, and the manual works at that level: crankshaft and cylinder block across pages 58 to 122, cylinder head and valve assembly from 123, fuel and injection with the high pressure common rail from 142, then air intake and exhaust, cooling, lubrication and starting through page 253.
Guessing a torque or a running pressure on an engine this size costs you a bearing or a head gasket. The figures are printed here instead: cold valve lash, injector calibration pressure, oil pressure at idle and at peak rpm, thermostat opening range. It is a 255 page PDF, so it travels to the bench or the stand with you.

New Holland F3DE / F3DF Tier 4a Engine Common Problems This Manual Covers
Oil pressure falls below spec at idle
A hot engine that drops off at idle is usually telling you about worn main and rod bearings or a tired oil pump, not a bad gauge. The specifications list 3 bar at idle and 4.5 bar at peak rpm, so you have a figure to measure against before the pan comes off.
Manual Section: Engine General Information and Specifications p. 32Valvetrain clatter from worn rockers or camshaft
Tapping that rises and falls with engine speed points at rocker assembly wear, a flat camshaft lobe, or lash that has opened up over service hours. This section carries the rocker assembly, camshaft, timing gear and idler gear procedures in removal and inspection order.
Manual Section: Valve Drive and Timing Gear p. 39Cranks but will not fire
When the flywheel or camshaft speed sensor loses signal, the engine cranks without starting or stumbles once it is running. The control module, EDC pin out and both speed sensors are documented here, so you can test pins instead of swapping parts on guesswork.
Manual Section: Electronic Control and Sensing Systems p. 47Cylinder liner wear and scored journals
High blowby and oil consumption on a high hour engine usually trace back to liner wear or scored main journals. This section runs from top dead center setting through crankshaft removal, main bearings, cylinder liners and under block installation, with the service limits you measure against.
Manual Section: Crankshaft and Cylinder Block p. 58Coolant loss with no external leak
A failed head gasket or a cracked seat area lets coolant into a cylinder, showing up as white smoke and a falling level with nothing wet on the outside. Cylinder head removal, valve guide and valve seat replacement, and valve assembly are all covered in reassembly order.
Manual Section: Cylinder Head and Valve Assembly p. 123Hard starting and misfire under load
Worn injectors or a rail pressure fault show as long cranking, rough idle and smoke when the engine is loaded. The Fuel and Injection System section covers the injection pump, injectors, high pressure common rail and fuel lines, with removal and installation for each and a check procedure for the injectors.
Manual Section: Fuel and Injection System p. 142Boost loss and turbocharger oil carryover
A turbocharger with worn shaft bearings pushes oil into the air cooler piping and the engine goes soft under load. The Air Intake System section covers the turbocharger, air cooler and intake manifold; the exhaust manifold and the selective catalytic reduction hardware follow in the separate Exhaust System (page 186) and Emissions control (page 192) sections.

Which engine models does this manual cover?
It covers the New Holland F3DE3684A, F3DE3684B, F3DFA613A, F3DFA613B, F3DFE613A and F3DFE613B, including the *E001, *E002, *A001 and *A002 build variants. It is New Holland publication 84474511. Check the number on your engine plate against that list before buying.
What are the cold valve lash settings on the F3DE / F3DF engine?
The specifications give 0.4 mm intake and 0.6 mm exhaust, set cold. They sit in the ENGINE - Service limits table on page 32 alongside bore, stroke and displacement, and the rocker adjustment procedure is on page 78. p. 32
Does it cover the common rail and emissions hardware?
Yes. The Fuel and Injection System section runs pages 142 to 169 and covers the high pressure common rail, injection pump, injectors and fuel lines. Selective catalytic reduction (supply module, DEF/AdBlue tank, dosing module, NOx sensor) has its own Emissions control section starting on page 192. p. 142
Does it include the charging and starting systems?
Yes. The Electrical Power System section covers the charging side and lists alternator output at 24 V - 200 A. The starting system has its own section at the back of the manual, starting on page 244. p. 24
