Part of the Case IH Repair Manuals.
Torque values, sensor checks and component service for 12 Case IH F3D engine variants are settled in this 255-page Case IH F3DE3684A service manual PDF (OEM ID 84490628), spanning the F3DE3684, F3DFA613 and F3DFE613 builds. Wiring harness diagrams and the EDC control unit pin out let you trace the flywheel and camshaft speed sensor circuits back to the electronic control module. Separate sections then work through the high pressure common rail, injectors, turbocharger, SCR, coolant and lubrication systems, and the grid heater starting circuit. Test the camshaft speed sensor for 880 to 920 Ω, and seat the turbocharger bracket bolts at 63 to 77 N·m. Sourcing a replacement water pump, oil pump or fuel injector? Each is named in the cooling, lubrication or fuel sections. Printed, the text-based pages stay sharp as a working copy, so your service limits and minimum tightening torques can sit beside the engine while bookmarks handle the screen.

Case IH F3DE3684A-F3DFE613B Common Problems This Manual Covers
Case IH F3DE3684A engine oil pressure reading low on the gauge with a warm engine at idle and peak rpm
Measure oil pressure on a warm engine and compare it to 3 bar (43.5 psi) at idle and 4.5 bar (65.3 psi) at peak rpm (page 32). If the reading is low, check the oil filter bypass valve, which opens at 3.4 bar (49.3 psi) per page 225. Then check the oil pressure regulator valve, rated to open at 5 bar (72.5 psi) on page 227.
Manual Section: Engine TroubleshootingTemperature gauge fails to reach normal operating temperature after warm up
Check the thermostat start of opening against 82 to 86 °C (180 to 187 °F), listed on page 32. Next, measure the coolant temperature sensor signal: it should read 0.6 to 2.4 V with coolant between 60 and 90 °C (page 211). Work through the remaining causes in the engine troubleshooting chart.
Manual Section: Engine TroubleshootingCylinder liner bore worn or oval beyond limit when measured at three heights
Measure each liner bore with a bore dial gauge set to the 135 mm (5.315 in) ring gauge. Take readings at three heights and in two perpendicular positions, as shown on page 113. Replace the liner if wear exceeds 0.150 mm (0.006 in) or ovalization exceeds 0.100 mm (0.004 in). Do not grind, face, or recondition it. Spare liners come in selection class A.
Manual Section: Cylinder block - Liner service p. 113Cylinder liner protrusion over block deck out of spec after liner installation
Place compression plate 380000115 on the liner. Install tool 380000140 with spacers 380000142 and the existing head bolts, then tighten the screw to 225 N·m (166 lb ft), per page 117. Check protrusion with dial gauge 380001004 against 0.045 to 0.075 mm. If it is out of spec, pull the liner, replace the water seals, and change the adjusting ring (0.08 to 0.14 mm sizes, page 116).
Manual Section: Cylinder block - Liner service p. 117Crankshaft end play or main bearing clearance out of limit during bottom end rebuild
Remove the under block and note the position of each main bearing shell. Reused shells must go back in their original positions (page 112). Measure main journal clearance against 0.060 to 0.100 mm (0.0024 to 0.0039 in) on page 33. Check crankshaft end play against 0.10 to 0.30 mm (0.0039 to 0.0118 in) and thrust bearing thickness against 3.38 to 3.43 mm, both on page 34.
Manual Section: Crankshaft - Seal and bearing service p. 34Valve lash out of the cold setting on intake and exhaust rocker arms
Turn the flywheel in normal rotation with tool 380000137 until the hole with one reference mark shows. Confirm number one TDC by fitting tool 380000150 through the speed sensor mounting surface, then remove it (page 58). With the engine cold, set intake lash to 0.4 mm (0.016 in) and exhaust to 0.6 mm (0.024 in), per page 32. Firing order is 1-4-2-6-3-5.
Manual Section: Engine - Service limits p. 32Frequently Asked Questions
How do I troubleshoot an engine that will not start?
If the engine does not start, check for a faulty starter switch, insufficient charging or complete discharge of the battery, lack of fuel, air in the fuel system, a clogged fuel filter, irregular or faulty fuel supply, a grid heater that is not heating, improper lubricating oil viscosity, a clogged air cleaner, or a burned-out fuse. p. 138
What are the valve clearance specifications for the Case IH F3DE3684A-F3DFE613B engine?
When the engine is cold, the intake valve lash setting is 0.4 mm (0.016 in) and the exhaust valve lash setting is 0.6 mm (0.024 in). p. 32
What is the tightening torque for the cylinder head bolts on the Case IH F3DE3684A-F3DFE613B engine?
The cylinder head bolts must be torqued in four stages: first to 75 N·m (55 lb ft), second to 150 N·m (111 lb ft), third to 90 degrees, and finally to 90 degrees. p. 124
What is the procedure for replacing the oil filter?
After draining the oil, remove the casing and discard the old o-ring and filter cartridge. Insert a new cartridge, ensuring the centering tabs on the top plate align with the seats in the casing, then torque the casing to 55 - 65 N·m (41 - 48 lb ft) and tighten the drain plug. p. 235
What is the oil pressure regulator valve opening pressure on the Case IH F3DE3684A-F3DFE613B engine?
The oil pressure regulator valve opening pressure starts at 10 bar (145.0 psi) +/- 1 bar (14.5 psi). p. 222
