Remove the center joint and inspect the O-rings and slipper seals — the manual says they cannot be reused and must be replaced. Measure the spindle-to-body clearance; replace or repair either component if wear exceeds 0.1 mm (0.0039 in) per page 322, and replace anything showing more than 0.5 mm of visible wear between shaft, shim and spacer.
