All 487 pages of this Hyundai R55W-9 shop manual PDF focus on one machine: the R55W-9 wheel excavator, from pump device to axle. Inside you get full hydraulic circuit diagrams covering the main and pilot circuits plus single and combined operations, a complete electrical section with circuit drawings, connector layouts, and monitoring system coverage, and page after page of disassembly and assembly procedures for the pump, main control valve, swing and travel devices, gear box, and steering valve. Troubleshooting charts walk you through hydraulic, electrical, and axle faults step by step. Set the T1 hydraulic fitting to 10~12 kgf·m, the port fittings to 6.0~7.0 kgf·m, and swap filters every 500 hours. Chasing a wiring fault without a diagram is a losing game. Bookmarked with a live text layer; jump to any section or search any spec, right from the shop floor.

Hyundai R55W-9 Common Problems This Manual Covers

Hyundai R55W-9 boom, arm, and bucket movement slow, weak, or jerky, cylinders struggle under load

Check the hydraulic oil level and condition first; check the tank level against the capacity in the General specifications. Milky or dark oil means contamination, change it and the filters. Work through the power weak chart on page 185. Test main pump relief pressure against the spec in the General specifications; low readings mean pump wear, see the service procedures on page 245.

Manual Section: Attachment System Troubleshooting p. 185
Boom drops slowly with controls in neutral, machine won't hold a load overnight

Check the gland for external leaks first. Internal piston seal leakage is the usual cause: reseal the boom cylinder, torque the gland and piston nut to the values in the work equipment tightening-torque chart. If drift continues with the hoses capped, inspect the main control valve for spool leakage (page 271).

Manual Section: Axle and Work Equipment p. 456
Machine loses travel power on grades, travels unevenly, top speed way down

Verify travel motor relief pressure against the General specifications before pulling anything apart. Check high-range travel speed on a flat surface; the spec is 30 km/hr (page 13). If pressure is good but travel stays weak, follow the counter-balance valve and motor unit checks in the travel motor section starting on page 307.

Manual Section: Travel Motor p. 307
Electrical gremlins: dead battery, blown fuses, monitor flickers, engine cranks over slow

Load-test the battery; the machine runs a single 12V 100Ah unit (page 17). Check the 30A start key fuse and the 20A alt/start fuse listed on page 152. Clean and tighten the ground connections at the frame. If the cluster shows fault codes, look them up before replacing parts.

Manual Section: Electrical System Troubleshooting p. 137
Hydraulic oil runs hot and looks cloudy, pumps whine steadily under load

Check oil level and filter condition; replace hydraulic filters every 500 hours (page 29). Cloudy oil means water or air contamination: drain the tank, flush, and refill to the specified capacity. Follow the oil temperature high and cavitation charts on page 185. A clogged return filter forces oil past the 1.5 kgf/cm2 bypass relief unfiltered (page 92).

Frequently Asked Questions

What does error code 105 FMI 0 mean on the Hyundai R55W-9A excavator?

Error code 105 FMI 0 indicates that the working pressure sensor data is above the normal range or that there is an open circuit. p. 133

What is the replacement interval for the hydraulic filter?

The hydraulic filter should be changed after the initial startup, after 500 hours of operation, and every 500 hours of operation thereafter. If abnormal fouling is observed during daily checks before the first filter change, the cause must be identified and the interval should not be extended. p. 29

What is the engine oil capacity for the R55W-9?

The engine oil capacity for the Yanmar 4TNV98-EPHYBU engine is 11.6 liters (3.1 U.S. gallons). p. 18

What is the tightening torque for the main pump mounting bolts?

The tightening torque for the main pump mounting bolts is 12.3 ± 3.0 kgf·m (92 ± 22.0 lbf·ft). p. 237

What is the standard travel speed for the R55W-9?

The travel speed for the R55W-9 is 11.3 km/hr (7.0 mph) for low speed and 30 km/hr (18.6 mph) for high speed. p. 13
