One factory book covers both balers: this New Holland BR6080, BR6090 service manual PDF, OEM part 87711071B, runs 387 pages and applies to either machine in the shed. Wiring diagrams trace the electrical power system harness by harness, with fault code tables that tell you which sensor or actuator the monitor is complaining about. Crop processing fills over half the book, from pickup tine replacement and rotor disassembly through crop cutter knife adjustment, density springs, net and film wrap calibration, twine tying, and bale unloading. Torque the pick-up cam follower bearing nut to at least 72 Nm (51.5 lb ft) and gap the net metering roll sensor at 1.5 mm (0.059 in). A baler that quits wrapping mid windrow burns daylight. Bookmarked and keyword searchable, this PDF downloads in minutes and gets the machine baling again before the weather turns on you.

New Holland BR6080, BR6090 Common Problems This Manual Covers

New Holland BR6080 net wrap won't start feeding, duckbill cycles but net never enters the bale chamber

Check the net brake adjustment first. Set the stop bolt distance to 55 mm (2.16 in) per page 321, then verify the secondary spring measures 190 mm (7.48 in) and brake timing clearance Z equals 10 mm (0.393 in) on page 322. Spin the net metering roll by hand and confirm it turns freely before reloading.

Manual Section: Net/Film Wrapping p. 321
Pickup turns rough and jerky, tines hesitate then snap forward under a normal windrow

Inspect the cam follower bearing; a seized follower is the usual cause. Remove the guard, then use the slug wrench on the feed rotor shaft to rotate the baler until the bearing faces the access hole in the side of the pick-up and extract it through the hole. Fit the new bearing, tighten the bearing nut to at least 72 Nm (51.5 lb ft) per page 202, then turn the pickup by hand to confirm smooth travel.

Manual Section: Round Baler Feeding p. 202
Main drive shear bolt keeps breaking in heavy windrows, baler stops mid bale

Clear any plugged material and check the rotor for foreign objects before installing a new bolt. Test the torque limiter clutch against its 1650 Nm setting using the procedure on page 87; a slipping clutch shifts load to the shear bolt. Slow ground speed, keep the PTO at rated speed, and split heavy windrows.

Manual Section: PTO Power In - Torque Limiter Check p. 87
Monitor shows tailgate open after ejecting a bale, latch will not indicate closed

Close the tailgate fully and watch both latch hooks seat; chaff buildup in the hooks is the common culprit. Clean the latch pockets, then measure the latch control spring and adjust it to 340 mm (13.4 in) as detailed on page 255. If the alarm continues with the hooks seated, check the latch sensor adjustment and wiring.

Manual Section: Round Chain Pressing p. 255
Bales come out soft and barrel shaped, never reach target density on the monitor bar graph

Run the PTO at full rated speed and feed evenly across the full 120 cm chamber width, weaving on narrow windrows. Confirm the bale turns at 26 RPM, one revolution every 2.25 seconds, per page 247. If rotation is slow, inspect the chain and bar system for worn rollers and check the density springs before the weather turns.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I clear an erroneous crop cutter calibration on the New Holland BR6080 or BR6090?

To clear an erroneous calibration of the crop cutter home, full extend or cut position, press and hold the CLEAR key for 1 second. The alarm will sound; then repeat the whole calibration procedure and exit the setup/diagnostic mode. p. 241

What are the torque specifications for hardware on the New Holland BR6080 and BR6090?

The manual provides a comprehensive torque table for imperial and metric hardware. For example, a 1/4 inch SAE Grade 5 unplated bolt requires 9.7 Nm (86 lb in), while an M8 Class 8.8 unplated bolt requires 22 Nm (195 lb in). p. 12

What is the meaning of the '14 Er' error message on the New Holland BR6080 or BR6090?

The '14 Er' error message indicates a calibration error related to the crop cutter. Specifically, '14 ER' means the crop cutter is not calibrated, and '14 Er' means there is a calibration error for the cutter full extend position. p. 66

What is the recommended oil type and capacity for the gearbox on the New Holland BR6080 and BR6090?

The gearbox requires 1.7 L (0.45 US gal) of 80W-90 hypoid gear oil that meets the API GL5 and MIL-L-2105D classification. p. 103

What is the required spring length for the main drive chain on the New Holland BR6080 and BR6090?

The main drive chain spring length (eye to eye) should be 358 mm +/- 2 (14.1 in +/- 0.0787). This should be adjusted using the eyebolt. p. 251

What do I get after purchasing this New Holland BR6080 manual?
