Part of the New Holland Repair Manuals.
Fits the New Holland CX7.80, CX7.90 and CX8.70 Stage IV and the CX8.80 and CX8.90 Stage V combines. The CX7.90, CX8.80 and CX8.90 are covered on both tires and tracks. Serial coverage runs from PIN 5G2008000 on the CX7.80 through 6L2008000 on the CX8.90 Tracks. This is part number 51666373, English, October 2019, for Europe, Asia Pacific and Middle East Africa.
The book covers the gearbox, final drives, hydrostatics, hydraulics and wiring, plus the crop-flow systems from the feeder to the unloading auger.
Engine removal and installation, fuel, exhaust, SCR/DEF and cooling are covered here, but engine overhaul is not. Sections are grouped by system, and the fault code index takes you from a code on the display to its entry quickly.

New Holland CX7.80–CX7.90, CX8.70–CX8.90 Common Problems This Manual Covers
Cleaning fan vibrates during operation
The fan drive troubleshooting table points to a flat or worn spot on the belt, and the fix is to replace the belt. While you're in there, torque the fan drive sheave bolt to 75 N·m ( 55.4 ft. lbs.). Then confirm fan speed at high idle with no load: 500 - 940 rpm on narrow frame and 475 - 900 rpm on wide frame.
Manual Section: Cleaning - Fan drive system - Troubleshooting p. 6087Machine will not operate in either direction
Check the obvious first. Hydrostatic transmission troubleshooting lists a disconnected control cable as a cause, and the fix is to reconnect it. If the cable is fine, move on to the pressure tests. Charge pump relief should read 32 bar (464 psi), with the pressure limiter at 420 bar ( 6090 psi) and the relief valve at 450 bar ( 6525 psi).
Manual Section: Hydrostatic drive - Hydrostatic transmission - Troubleshooting p. 540No steering and no other high pressure hydraulic functions
When steering and every other high pressure function die together, the troubleshooting table points to a fault in the CCLS pump circuit. Run the CCLS pump tests in Hydraulic Systems before pulling any valves. Use the hydraulic schema sheets to trace the circuit, and the priority valve coverage under Steering to rule that side out.
Manual Section: Hydraulic systems - Troubleshooting p. 734Engine cranks slowly
Engine starting system problem solving names the 24V starter motor M-29 as the suspect. It sends you to Engine starter - Testing (55.201) for the checks. Use sheet 01 of the wiring schematics for power and starting to trace the feed and ground circuits before you condemn the starter.
Manual Section: Electrical systems - Engine starting system - Problem solving p. 2429Frequently Asked Questions
Which New Holland CX combines does this service manual cover?
It covers the CX7.80, CX7.90 and CX8.70 Stage IV and the CX8.80 and CX8.90 Stage V, with tires and tracks versions of the CX7.90, CX8.80 and CX8.90. Serials run from PIN 5G2008000 (CX7.80) through 6L2008000 (CX8.90 Tracks). Engine codes listed include F2CGE613A*V005 for the CX7.80 and F2CGE613E*V007 for the CX8.90. Engine removal is covered, but engine repair information is not in this manual. p. 2
What is the hydraulic oil capacity of the New Holland CX7.80-CX8.90?
The reservoir holds 37 l (9.8 US gal) and the entire system holds 100 l (26.4 US gal). That gap matters if you're flushing after a pump failure, because the reservoir figure alone will leave you short on oil. The Hydraulic Systems section also covers the reservoir and filters, the CCLS pump and the control valves. p. 742
What hydrostatic pressures are listed for the New Holland CX7.80-CX8.90?
Charge pump relief is 32 bar (464 psi) for both the 115cc and 165cc pumps. The pressure limiter is set at 420 bar ( 6090 psi) and the relief valve at 450 bar ( 6525 psi). Pump displacements are 115 cm³/rev (7 in³/rev) and 165 cm³/rev (10.1 in³/rev). The Hydrostatic Drive section has the pressure testing and neutral adjustment procedures that use these numbers. p. 514
What cleaning fan speeds does the New Holland CX7.80-CX8.90 manual give?
At high idle with no load, narrow frame machines run 500 - 940 rpm and wide frame machines run 475 - 900 rpm. The Cleaning section covers the fan housing, fan variator and cleaning drive. p. 6077
Does the New Holland CX7.80-CX8.90 manual include wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics and fault codes?
Yes. Numbered electrical schematic sheets with legends run from sheet 01 (power and starting) to sheet 93 (CAN engine), and the hydraulic schema sheets have their own legends. The fault code section lists alarm, ATC, E and F codes with a printed index. Examples include ATC-111 - Cab sensor open or shorted to power, and F-100-03 - Oil pressure sensor voltage is higher than expected. p. 1317
