Part of the New Holland Repair Manuals.
Hood open, gauge threaded into a transmission test port, trying to learn why ground speed went soft halfway through a field. That is the hour this book gets pulled off the shelf.
Windrower work happens alone. The dealer is an hour out, the hay is down, and nobody in the shed can tell you what that cartridge valve is supposed to be doing. This manual answers instead: pressure specs, calibration steps, valve identification, fault code tables.
It is split by system, so the hydrostatic pressure test, the ATC fault chart, or the draper floatation procedure sits a couple of page turns away. Fix it, close the hood, get back in the standing crop before the weather turns.

New Holland HW345, HW365 Common Problems This Manual Covers
Hydraulic oil runs hot, drive feels spongy, or the pump cavitates under load
Start in Hydrostatic Transmission under pressure testing and troubleshooting, and measure against the 345 bar (5000 psi) transmission relief setting before condemning any part. Wrong fluid, a low cross-linked reservoir (52.4L / 13.8 gal), or a restricted suction line accounts for most of these. Tandem pump and motor repair follows in the same section.
Manual Section: Hydrostatic Transmission - Pressure Testing and Troubleshooting p. 70Oil weeping from several spots and no way to tell which leak matters
Trace by system instead of by puddle. Hydraulic Systems identifies valves and manifolds so you know what a given hose actually feeds. Shaft seals are covered under tandem pump and motor repairs, and the Rear Axle section handles the support fork and pivot pin areas that weep on suspended axles.
Manual Section: Hydraulic Systems - Valve Identification and Manifolds p. 458Knock or rattle in the header, loudest between modules
Header Attachments covers draper setup and calibration, cut height cylinders, and the flow divider manifold that splits drive flow between sections. Shafts, bearings, and seals are the parts that give up first. Verify header drive pressure through the header drive and lift pages before you pull module shafts apart.
Manual Section: Header Attachments - Draper Setup and CalibrationEngine temperature climbing in heavy hay and the fan is not moving air
The engine cooling system pages cover the belt driven fan drive along with the turbo and air to air intercooling side. Both models share the 7.5L CNH six, 139kw (186 hp) in the HW345 and 168kw (226 hp) in the HW365, so lost airflow shows up fast under load. Check belt, screens, and cooler faces first.
Manual Section: Engine - Cooling System p. 69Frequently Asked Questions
Can I read and clear fault codes on an HW345 or HW365 without a dealer laptop?
Electrical Systems carries fault codes and diagnostics, and climate control has its own ATC code table. You get code meanings plus the circuit behind each one. Hydrostatic Transmission covers active calibrations, which is what you run after replacing a propulsion sensor or a pump.
Does it actually list torque values, or does it send me somewhere else?
Engine specifications and torque values are in the engine section, with general torque information up front in Section 00. Valve lash is spelled out cold: intake 0.36-0.46mm, exhaust 0.43-0.53mm. Injection pressure is one item it hands off to the engine service manual. p. 69
Ground drive is weak and the oil runs hot. Will this get me to the cause?
Hydrostatic Transmission covers pressure testing and troubleshooting, with transmission relief at 345 bar (5000 psi) to measure against. It walks tandem pump and motor repair, propulsion system sensors, and the two speed setup. Wrong or contaminated fluid is the usual first find. p. 70
Is the draper header covered, or only the machine under it?
Header Attachments covers draper floatation, cut height cylinders, the flow divider manifold, and draper setup and calibration. Header drive and lift live in Hydraulic Systems, including the dual accumulators that hold float pressure. Shaft and bearing wear between modules is what sends most people there.
Does it cover the cab air conditioning?
Climate control gets a full section: refrigeration basics, compressor and clutch, blower and HVAC cores, automatic temperature control, and its own troubleshooting and fault codes. A hot cab in July is not something you ride out. Doing the compressor yourself instead of hauling the machine in is reason enough to own the book.
