New Holland LW110, LW130, LW130TC Common Problems This Manual Covers

New Holland LW130 loader boom drops slowly on its own after being raised and left unsupported for service

Check the boom pivot pins for wear before raising for service; the upper pin should measure 59.981 to 60.000 mm and the lower pin 74.966 to 74.985 mm per page 276. Install mechanical blocks or support pins before working underneath the boom, since lift cylinders alone can drift or fail under load. Replace pins measuring under spec.

Manual Section: Bucket Booms and Frame p. 276
Wheel nuts back off or rim retainers crack after repeated heavy loader duty

Torque wheel nuts to 86.2 daNm (627 ft-lbs) as specified on page 221, and recheck before every working shift, not just after service. Loose retainers let the rim walk under load and shear the studs. Use a calibrated torque wrench in a star pattern and inspect for stud stretch or elongated bolt holes.

Manual Section: Braking System p. 221
Exhaust fumes or heat build up in the operator cab during extended operation inside an enclosed building

Verify the building has ventilation rated to clear exhaust gases before running the engine indoors; carbon monoxide buildup is a serious hazard covered in the safety rules on page 18. Open bay doors or install exhaust extraction ducting, and shut down immediately if cab air quality feels off.

Manual Section: Safety Rules p. 18
Machine feels unstable or skids during low speed travel with the brakes applied

Check brake fluid pressure and pedal free travel before each shift; low pressure or a misadjusted pedal valve causes uneven braking and skidding. On LW110, minimum brake disc thickness is 5.9 mm and brake ring thickness is 6.38 mm per page 216; replace discs below this limit and bleed the system per the braking system section starting page 220.

Manual Section: Braking System p. 216
Starter motor cranks slowly or fails to engage when the ignition key is turned

Check the starter mounting bolts for looseness first; they should be torqued to 10.5 daNm on page 271, and a loose starter will crank erratically or fail to engage the flywheel. Clean the battery terminals, verify full battery voltage under load, and inspect the starter solenoid contacts for pitting before replacing the starter assembly.
