This is the full factory repair manual for the New Holland TND and TNS series tractors, the 2WD and 4WD TN55, TN65, TN70 and TN75 built on the same 3-cylinder chassis. It is the dealer document, split the way New Holland numbered the tractor: engine, clutch, transmissions, front-wheel drive, axles, PTO, brakes, hydraulics, steering, air conditioning, electrical and cab. The engine and hydraulic sections carry the real numbers a rebuild needs, the electrical section runs from page 1309 to page 1786 with wiring schematics and connector views for every serial-number build, and each section closes with its own specifications, tightening torques, special tools and overhaul procedures.

New Holland TN55D-TN75S Series Common Problems This Manual Covers

The engine cranks strongly but will not start, or it runs rough and smokes.

Work the engine section in order rather than replacing injectors on a guess. Compression on a healthy engine is 25.5 to 27.5 bar, and a used engine is still serviceable down to 21.6 bar with no more than 3 bar difference between cylinders, so a compression test tells you straight away whether the problem is mechanical. If compression is good, move to the Bosch pump: start of delivery is 9 degrees plus or minus 0.5 before TDC, and the injectors are set between 250 and 353 bar depending on engine type. The section covers pump timing, injector calibration and bleeding the fuel circuit.

Manual Section: SECTION 10 - ENGINE
The hydraulic lift is slow, will not hold a load, or the remote valves fade as the oil warms.

The hydraulic section splits the tractor into a high-pressure circuit and a low-pressure circuit and gives the test procedure for each, so you can tell a tired pump from a lift control that is out of adjustment. It covers the hydraulic pump, the mechanically controlled lift with its draft, position and float controls, the remote control valves and the three-point linkage, with the schematics, the pressure test points and the full overhaul procedures for the pump and the lift housing.

Manual Section: SECTION 35 - HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
An electrical fault, a dead circuit, or four-wheel drive that will not engage.

The electrical section runs from page 1309 to page 1786, with schematics and connector views drawn separately for each serial-number build and each option combination, because a TN with Auto 4WD and a cab is wired differently from a 2WD with no cab. Find your build, follow the circuit to the connector, and test it there. The electrohydraulic FWD engagement itself is covered in the transfer box section, so an engagement fault can be traced from the switch through the harness to the clutch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which tractors does this manual cover?

All eight TND and TNS variants: TN55D, TN55S, TN65D, TN65S, TN70D, TN70S, TN75D and TN75S. They share the same 3-cylinder 2931 cm3 engine block and chassis, so the transmission, hydraulic, brake and cab work is common; the manual calls out where a model differs, such as the 17:1 naturally aspirated engines on the TN55 and TN65 against the 16.5:1 turbocharged engines on the TN70 and TN75.

Does it include the full wiring diagrams?

Yes. The electrical section is the largest in the book, running from page 1309 to page 1786. It carries the wiring schematics and harness connector views for every serial-number build and every option combination, from 2WD with a mechanical lift and no cab through to Auto 4WD with cab, along with the starting, charging, lighting and instrument circuits and their test procedures.

What engine power does each model make?

All at 2300 rpm: 37 kW (50 hp) on the TN55D and TN55S, 44 kW (60 hp) on the TN65D and TN65S, 51 kW (70 hp) on the TN70D and TN70S, and 53 kW (72 hp) on the TN75D and TN75S. The TN70 and TN75 get their extra power from turbocharging, which is why their compression ratio drops to 16.5:1.

Are the injection pump and injector settings in here?

They are. The engine section gives the Bosch rotary distributor pump specifications, the start of delivery at 9 degrees plus or minus 0.5 before TDC, the plunger pre-lift figure and the special tools for setting it, and the injector pressure settings, which run from 250 to 353 bar depending on the engine type fitted. Nozzle hole diameter is 0.23 mm.

How big is the manual and can I search it?

It is 1814 pages in English, a searchable and printable PDF. You can search the text, print just the pages you need for the bench, and leave the rest on a laptop in the workshop.
