Part of the Yanmar Repair Manuals.
Yanmar's own publication number, 0000A0C1483 T 8502, is printed on this service manual, and that matters when you have a TF series diesel stripped to the crankcase and need numbers you can trust. It covers the TF50 through TF160 engines in their radiator, hopper cooled, lighting device, and electric starting versions.
Guesswork is what ruins these rebuilds: a head pulled down unevenly, a rod bolt stretched past its range, valve seats lapped without checking the wear limits. The manual replaces that with factory service standards for the cylinder head, piston, crankshaft, camshaft and fuel system, a full disassembly and reassembly sequence, inspection limits for every wearing part, and a troubleshooting chart that works from the symptom back to the cause.
It is a 52 page PDF, so it goes wherever the engine is: on a tablet beside the stand, or printed as loose pages you can wipe clean.

Yanmar TF50–TF160 Series Common Problems This Manual Covers
Cranks but will not fire
A TF that spins over healthy and never lights usually comes down to air in the fuel, a blocked filter, or low compression. The troubleshooting chart walks the poor starting symptom back through each cause in order, alongside charts for insufficient output and engine knock.
Manual Section: 9.Troubleshooting p. 46Blue smoke and rising oil consumption
Oil use that climbs with every run points to worn rings or a tired cylinder liner. The inspection chapter gives measuring procedures and wear limits for the piston, rings, liner and crankshaft, so you know whether the parts go back in or in the bin.
Manual Section: 7.Inspection and Servicing p. 28Fuel starvation from a dirty filter
Stale fuel plugs the filter element and the engine surges, then dies under load. The maintenance schedule sets internal filter cleaning at every 300 hours and element replacement at every 600, along with the rest of the fuel, oil and cooling routines.
Manual Section: 8.Maintenance Schedule p. 45Head gasket leaks after retorquing
Pull the head down by feel and the gasket weeps or the surface warps. The torque table lists the cylinder head clamp bolts at 9.50 to 10.50 kg-m for the TF50 through TF90, plus values for the connecting rod bolts, flywheel end nut and injection pump delivery valve holder.
Manual Section: 5.Main Bolt/Nut Tightening Torques p. 12Valve lash out of specification
Tight lash burns exhaust valves; loose lash rattles the tappets and steals compression. The service standards tables carry the factory figures and wear limits for the cylinder head, camshaft and valve gear so everything goes back to specification, not to memory.
Manual Section: 4. Service Standards p. 9Weak or dribbling fuel injector
Heavy smoke, knock and lost power often trace to an injection valve that no longer atomizes cleanly. The inspection chapter covers servicing the fuel injection pump and injection valve, together with the fuel filter and air cleaner.
Manual Section: 7.Inspection and Servicing p. 28Frequently Asked Questions
Which Yanmar engines does this service manual cover?
The TF series, with service and torque data listed for the TF50, TF60, TF70, TF80, TF90, TF110, TF120, TF140 and TF160. Specifications are given both for engines with radiator and hopper cooling and for versions with electric starting and a lighting device. p. 7
Does it include cylinder head and other torque specs?
Yes. The Main Bolt/Nut Tightening Torques table lists the cylinder head clamp bolts at 9.50 to 10.50 kg-m for the TF50 through TF90, with higher figures for the larger engines, plus the connecting rod bolts, flywheel end nut, fuel pump nuts and standard bolt torques. p. 12
Will it help me diagnose a TF that starts poorly or lacks power?
Yes. The Troubleshooting section works through poor starting, insufficient output, overheating, excessive engine oil consumption and engine knock cause by cause, and finishes with fault diagnosis by exhaust smoke. p. 46
How do I get the manual after buying?
It is a direct digital download: once payment goes through, the PDF is available immediately, with nothing shipped and nothing to wait for. Save it to a phone, tablet or laptop so the manual is wherever the engine happens to be.
Is this Service Manual a digital download?
Instant PDF download. You get the full 52-page searchable Service Manual immediately after payment. Open it on your laptop, tablet, or phone right in the shop.
Can I print specific sections of this Service Manual?
No copy protection at all. The PDF is DRM-free, so print whatever sections you need to take to the shop. Standard letter or A4 paper works.
