Part of the Case Repair Manuals.
For the hydrostatic drive, the book gives you the test numbers. It lists servo, charge, case and drive pressures, then covers servicing the pump and motor. The piston pump and compensator get the same treatment, with flow, stand by and cut off pressures.
On the engine side it covers the 466 diesel family and overhaul of the Case 6-590 and 6-830. That includes cylinder head, valve train, cylinder block, turbocharger and lubrication. Bosch MW and CAV injection pumps are covered too, with injection pump timing. You also get wiring diagrams and hydraulic schematics for the 2022-2044 and the 2055, plus steering, transmission, drum drive, brakes, Sanden A/C, picker drums and basket.
A rebuild usually stalls because one number is missing. Print the pages and take them to the bench, grease and all. Check the cylinder head and valve train specs before it goes back together.

Case 1822–2055 Common Problems This Manual Covers
Hydrostatic transmission will not operate in either direction
Before troubleshooting, check the fluid level, replace the filter, check the suction hose, fix any external leaks and warm the fluid to at least 100 F (38 C). If charge pressure is very low or zero, the system is low on fluid, so fill the reservoir and find the leak. Low charge pressure points to a plugged charge pump suction line or filter. Clean the line, replace the filter and remove air from the system. If charge and case pressure are normal, check the whole control linkage and adjust it to the neutral position of the pump control arm.
Manual Section: Hydrostatic Propulsion Drive Testing and Troubleshooting (6010) - Transmission Will Not Operate in Either Direction p. 1389No hydraulics
Make sure the hydraulic oil reservoir is full, the filters are clean and the batteries and charging system work properly. Check the pump drive belt for cracking or glazing, check its tension, and replace or adjust it. Next, check whether the pump pulley is slipping on the shaft and whether the pump input shaft is broken. If the pump drive is OK, test pump output using the hydraulic testing section.
Manual Section: Hydraulic System Troubleshooting (8010) - No Hydraulics p. 1715Steering works but there are no electro-hydraulic functions
First check that the drum safety switch is in the unlock position. Then turn the key switch on and run a jumper wire from the normally open terminal of the engine oil pressure switch to ground. Check the voltage at the activated solenoid coil. That tells you whether to chase the wiring or the valve, using the electro-hydraulic valve wiring diagram.
Manual Section: Hydraulic System Troubleshooting (8010) - Steering Works but no Electro-Hydraulic Functions p. 1716Air conditioning gives no cooling
Start by checking whether the compressor runs. For a mechanical problem, go to the external compressor check. For an electrical problem, go to the blower motor and compressor clutch check. Refrigerant problems go to the refrigerant checks, and internal system problems go to the pressure test section. Recovery, evacuation and recharge procedures for the Sanden compressor are in the same part of the book.
Manual Section: Air Conditioner Troubleshooting (9001) - No Cooling p. 1931Frequently Asked Questions
What are the hydraulic piston pump specifications for the Case 2022 and 2044 cotton pickers?
Pump flow is 26.6 GPM minimum at 2000 PSI (100.7 L/Min @ 13,790 kPa). Cut off pressure is 2400 to 2500 PSI (16,547 to 17,237 kPa). Pump differential pressure is 340 to 390 PSI (2,344 to 2,689 kPa). Stand by pressure is 500 to 800 PSI with the orifice tee installed and 350 to 500 PSI (2,413 to 3,447 kPa) without it. The 2055 lists the same flow and cut off pressure. p. 1638
What are the hydrostatic drive test pressures on these Case cotton pickers?
Servo pressure is 150 to 170 PSI (1,034 to 1,172 kPa). Drive pressure is 5400 to 5600 PSI (37,233 to 38,612 kPa). Charge pressure is 210 to 230 PSI (1,448 to 1,586 kPa) above case pressure. Case pressure should not go over 40 PSI (276 kPa). Take those four readings before you condemn a pump or motor. Saving one wrong teardown pays for the book. p. 1381
How do I silence the row unit monitor alarm on a Case cotton picker?
Push the ALARM RESET touch switch. It silences the audible alarm and turns off a flashing indicator light. Normally you stop, fix the problem, and the monitor resets itself once it gets an acceptable sensor signal again. The switch is for when you decide to keep picking with something you can't fix yet, such as a damaged rotor sensor or signal wire. p. 1167
How do I reset the air cleaner service indicator?
The red signal shows when the air cleaner elements need service. Service the filter elements first. Then push up on the reset button at the bottom of the indicator. The red signal disappears once the indicator is reset. p. 347
What is the rear wheel bolt torque on the Case 1822–2055 cotton pickers?
Lightly oil the wheel bolt threads, then tighten the rear wheel bolts to 140 to 160 lb ft (190 to 217 Nm). Oiling the threads is part of the procedure, so don't skip it and torque them dry. p. 1360
