Part of the Case IH Repair Manuals.
You'll have this book open on the tailgate while the 2150 sits half-folded in the yard and you try to work out which valve block is the problem. It's the factory Case IH service manual for the Early Riser 2150 12/16 Row 30 front fold trailing planter.
Every hour the planter sits, the seedbed keeps drying out. The manual covers tractor remote and optional PTO pump hydraulics, the lift and fold valve block, DeltaForce down-pressure, vacuum and bulk fill fan, markers, liquid fertilizer, vDrive meter drives, UCM and row module electronics, fault codes and row unit service.
The electrical schematic sheets and foldout hydraulic schematics let you trace the failed component before you call the parts counter. That way you order the right part the first time and get back in the field.

Case IH 2150 12/16 Row Common Problems This Manual Covers
Planter is not planting seed
Start with the obvious: make sure the hoppers have seed and the seed tube isn't plugged or damaged. Next, look for an obstruction at the meter, a damaged meter drive, a worn seed disc or a wrong baffle setting. Clean any plugged vacuum manifold or hose and confirm you actually have vacuum. Last, check the planting start and stop heights in frame setup on the display, and make sure the planter isn't in overlap. The planting troubleshooting tables in Planting [79] go through this list.
Manual Section: Planting - Not planting seed p. 1831Low seed population
Inspect every drive system for failed, worn or misaligned parts, and check wheel height so the toolbar sits level. Run the distance calibration if wheel speed is off, and readjust the wheel speed sensor. Slow down if you're planting too fast. Raise vacuum to the recommended level and find any leaks. Then check for seed bridging in the hopper, seed sticking to the disc, a worn disc or a worn vacuum seal. Metering system [61] covers the meter, disc and vDrive.
Manual Section: Planting - Low seed population p. 1831Uneven seed depth
If ground speed is too fast for the seedbed, slow down or add row unit down pressure. Unplug a partially plugged seed shoe and clean any dirty seed tubes. Replace a worn furrow firming point or worn opener disks. Level the toolbar front to rear in planting position. Set the covering disk spring pressure correctly, and back off the closing disk spring tension if it's too high. Planting tool [79.105] covers opener disk inspection, the seed shoe and depth control.
Manual Section: Planting - Uneven seed depth p. 1833Frame does not raise to full up position
First, confirm plant mode or the raise position is selected on the display. Raise engine RPM so the pump puts out enough flow, and service the tractor hydraulics if they aren't working correctly. Check the remote lever detent, because a detent set too low or a faulty one will stop the lift, and the tractor must have a 2500 psi relief valve. Remove extra weight if the planter is overloaded, and lengthen a short remote timer setting. Frame folding and lifting hydraulics covers the lift and fold valve block and the wheel lift cylinders.
Manual Section: Planting - Planter frame does not raise to full up position p. 1835Frequently Asked Questions
What relief pressure does my tractor remote need for the Case IH 2150 12/16 Row planter?
The tractor remote needs a minimum relief pressure of 18616 kPa (2700 psi). p. 69
How much tractor power and how many hydraulic remotes does the 2150 12/16 Row need?
The 12 Row needs 155 - 310 Hp and 3 remotes. It only comes with the 2-point hitch, so there is no drawbar version. The 16 Row needs 180 - 380 Hp, with 3 remotes on the 2-point hitch or 4 on the drawbar hitch. Both sizes need a high flow or twin-flow hydraulic pump rated at 50 US gpm minimum. Keep case drain port back pressure at or below 170 kPa (26 psi). p. 47
What does the optional PTO hydraulic pump on the 2150 12/16 Row deliver, and how much oil does its reservoir hold?
At 1000 RPM PTO speed, with fluid at 26.6 °C (80 °F) and 15858 kPa (2300 psi), the pump delivers 83.3 - 89.3 L/min (22.0 - 23.6 US gpm). For the flow test, warm the oil above 37.8 °C (100 °F) and run rated PTO speed. A healthy pump shows 23 - 24 US gpm at 15168 kPa (2200 psi). The reservoir holds 11.4 L (3.0 US gal) of CASE IH AKCELA HY-TRAN ULTRACTION. p. 143
What tire pressure and lug bolt torque do the 2150 12/16 Row wheels need?
The wing and center toolbar wheels run Firestone VF 245/70R19.5 AD2 Radial tires at 517.1 kPa (75.0 psi). Torque the wheel lug bolts to 331.0 - 447.0 N·m (244.1 - 329.7 lb ft). Both specs are the same on the 12 Row and the 16 Row. p. 48
How much does the 2150 12 Row or 16 Row planter weigh empty?
Empty, the 12 Row weighs 8292 kg (18280 lb) and the 16 Row weighs 9090 kg (20040 lb). Those weights include the bulk hopper system, residue managers and two-stage closing. Transport width is 3759 mm (148 in) with two-stage closing or 3632 mm (143 in) with v-closing. p. 49
