Part of the Case IH Repair Manuals.
Feedroll drive stalls in standing corn and the whole harvest line stops behind it. That job is why the 541-page Case IH 8750 forage harvester Service Manual PDF exists, published by Hay & Forage Industries, publication 7-61890. Hydraulic system coverage runs the largest stretch of the book, with operation notes, schematics, and troubleshooting split cleanly between machines CFH0071101 thru CFH71175 and CFH71176 and later, so you trace the right circuit for your serial number. Electrical schematics and troubleshooting charts take you from a dead feedroll drive actuator back to the connector causing it, and chassis chapters cover main drive, cutter and feedrolls, augers, blower and spout. Fill the hydraulic system to 74 U.S. QT (70 L) without an oil cooler, 76 U.S. QT (71.9 L) with one; the gearbox holds 2 U.S. QT (1.9 L). Downtime here is measured in acres, not hours. Bookmarked, text searchable, and printable, so the pages you need can live on the bench and get greasy.

Case IH 8750 Common Problems This Manual Covers
Case IH 8750 feedrolls stop pulling crop mid-windrow, feedroll drive actuator dead
Check the feedroll drive actuator circuit before you blame the hydraulics. Follow the electrical troubleshooting procedures and trace the harness against the wiring diagram. Verify solenoid supply voltage and emergency stop continuity, then confirm the feedroll drive hydraulic system is filled to the 74 U.S. QT (70 L) capacity listed on page 16.
Manual Section: Electrical System TroubleshootingCutterhead knives dull fast and chop length runs long and ragged in hay
Sharpen the knives and reset the shear bar before harvest, not during it. Run the cutterhead at its rated 1000 rpm as specified on page 15 and set shear bar clearance per the cutter and feedrolls section. When you install knives, tighten the center flanged screws to 45 LB-FT (61 N-m) first, then the two outside screws, as shown on page 485.
Manual Section: Cutter and Feedrolls Troubleshooting p. 485Feedroll drive oil runs too hot or the feedrolls move erratically
Check the reservoir oil level and look for leaks first, then fill to the 74 U.S. QT (70 L) capacity on page 16, or 76 U.S. QT (71.9 L) on machines with an oil cooler. If the machine has the cooler, clean out the debris packed in it, and run the tractor at full throttle, not below high idle, as the chart on page 259 says. Compare pump and motor flow against the feedroll drive hydraulic schematic before condemning any component.
Manual Section: Feedroll Drive Hydraulic System Troubleshooting p. 259Spout won't rotate full swing from the tractor seat, cutterbox lift slow or dead
Test the tractor supplied remote hydraulics first. Work the troubleshooting procedures with the remotes held in detent and confirm the spout reaches its full 360 degree rotation listed on page 15. Compare valve and cylinder routing against the hydraulic schematic before pulling the rotation motor.
Manual Section: Tractor Supplied Hydraulic System TroubleshootingAuger shear bolt keeps shearing on an early production 8750
Only early production machines carry an auger shear bolt, on the right-hand end of the auger (page 527). Replace it with a new 1/4-20 x 1-3/4 Grade 5 cap screw, washers and a prevailing torque lock nut, and tighten it snug without clamping the discs tight. Then check blower paddle clearance, no more than .060 IN (1.5 mm) at the rear of the wrapper (page 537), and confirm the blower turns its rated 1000 rpm (page 15).
Manual Section: Augers, Blower, and Spout p. 527Pickup head rides heavy on the skid shoes or will not drop back after a lift
Set flotation by the numbers on page 388. On an open center system, charge the accumulator with oil until the gauge reads about 700 psi (4827 kPa) with the head fully raised, then lower the head and lift the front of the guard bar by hand: 75 to 125 LB is the target. If the pressure is too high, bleed oil back through the needle valve. On a closed center tractor, turn the flotation pressure reducing valve clockwise to add pressure. Accumulator nitrogen checks use the Nitrogen Charging Kit listed on page 387.
Manual Section: Flotation System Hydraulic Components p. 388Frequently Asked Questions
What is the reset procedure for the feedroll drive system if the feedrolls will not rotate?
To reset the feedroll drive circuit, the feedroll pump arm must move from the forward position into the reverse position. Press and hold the feedroll drive switch in the reverse position until the coil energizes, which occurs when the pump arm moves into the reverse position. p. 326
What are the standard torque specifications for Grade 5 bolts on the forage harvester?
Standard torque specifications for Grade 5 bolts vary by size. For example, a 1/4-20 bolt requires 8.4 LB-FT (11 N-m), a 1/2-13 bolt requires 76 LB-FT (105 N-m), and a 1-8 bolt requires 645 LB-FT (875 N-m). p. 17
What is the required tension for the pump drive belt?
The pump drive belt tension is correct when 14 LBF (66 N) of force is required to deflect the belt .169 IN (4.3 mm) at the specified point. p. 468
How often should the gearbox oil be changed?
The gearbox oil must be changed at the beginning of each season or every 500 hours of operation, whichever comes first. p. 21
What is the correct torque for the wheel bolts on a Case IH 8750 forage harvester?
Wheel bolts must be tightened to 120 LB-FT (165 N-m) torque. It is recommended to check the torque after the first 3 to 5 hours of operation. p. 12
