Case IH repair manual 87649366 takes five JX tractors apart, JX60 through JX95, over 708 pages that run from engine overhaul to cab air conditioning. Wiring diagrams in this Case IH JX95 repair manual PDF lay out the starting, charging and instrument cluster circuits, while hydraulic system diagrams pair with lift oil flow for the lift, neutral and lowering phases plus draft and position control principles. Troubleshooting covers the engine, clutch, synchronizer reverser, PTO and brakes. Expect 2.9 to 3.9 bar (42 to 56 psi) of oil pressure from a warm engine at max speed, and torque cylinder head bolts to 70 Nm (51 ft-lb) plus 90° plus 90°. Your job might be checking fuel injection pump timing with the pump still on the tractor; that procedure has its own entry. Bookmarks and a text layer put you on the 540/1000 RPM PTO overhaul or the differential lock sleeve adjustment in a few clicks.

Case IH JX60–JX95 Series Common Problems This Manual Covers

Case IH JX60 to JX95 fuel lines with air, water or impurities and engine does not start

Check the battery charge and clean and tighten corroded terminal nuts first, per the engine troubleshooting chart on page 73. Then check fuel lines, unions, supply pump, filters and injection pump for air and bleed the system. If water or impurities show up, disconnect the lines at the injection pump, clean them thoroughly, and clean and dry the tank.

Manual Section: Engine Troubleshooting p. 73
Coolant pump and fan drive belt slack or thermostat faulty, engine overheats

Top up the expansion tank with the specified coolant mixture, then check and adjust coolant pump and fan belt tension following page 74. Replace a faulty thermostat and clean a clogged air filter. If the radiator is inefficient, flush the entire circuit, not just the radiator, and wear a face shield, gloves and safety clothing against hot flushing agent as page 149 warns.

Manual Section: Engine Troubleshooting p. 74
Injectors partially obstructed or incorrectly adjusted and engine produces excessive black or dark gray smoke

Clean the air filter unit first and replace the element if needed, per page 76. Then clean and overhaul the injectors, adjust the pressure setting, and replace them if necessary. Inspect the high-pressure fuel lines for damage. When refitting, torque the injector mounting stud nuts to 25 Nm (18 ft-lb) as listed on page 175.

Manual Section: Engine Troubleshooting p. 76
Flywheel bolts loose or main bearings worn and engine produces abnormal knocking noises

Check the flywheel bolts first. Replace any that have worked loose and tighten all bolts to 40 Nm (29 ft-lb) plus 60°, per the torque table on page 68. If the knock persists, clean, overhaul and calibrate the injectors and check injection pump timing as page 75 lists, then check main and big-end bearing play and crankshaft endfloat.

Manual Section: Engine Troubleshooting p. 75
Clutch friction discs worn or contaminated with oil and grease and clutch slips

Check friction discs, pressure plates and flywheel against the clutch section limits and replace anything at or over the limit, following page 205. Replace a distorted Belleville spring disc. If linings are oily, replace the discs, stop the lubricant source inside the clutch housing and clean the friction surfaces. When splitting for access, lift heavy parts with suitable equipment and keep everyone clear, per page 206.

Manual Section: Clutch Troubleshooting p. 205
Shuttle synchronizer reverser external levers and linkages out of adjustment, reverser disengages spontaneously

Adjust the external levers and linkages correctly and restore full engagement travel, per page 228; creeper units follow page 241. If it is still hard to engage, check pivot points and lubricate, and rule out main clutch drag. Damaged synchronizer teeth mean removing the clutch casing and replacing the synchronizer.

Manual Section: Front Transmission Troubleshooting p. 228

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the torque specifications for the cylinder-head bolts on the Case IH JX60–JX95 Series?

The cylinder head bolts require a preliminary torque of 70 Nm (51 ft-lb), followed by an angular tightening of 90° + 90°. p. 68

What is the correct cold valve clearance for the engine on the Case IH JX60–JX95 Series?

For normal running with the engine cold, the intake and exhaust valve clearances should both be set to 0.30 ± 0.05 mm (0.01 ± 0.002 inches). p. 57

What is the engine oil capacity for the JX60 and JX70 models?

The engine sump capacity for JX60 and JX70 models is 6.8 liters (1.8 US gal) without the filter, and 7.3 liters (1.9 US gal) with the filter. p. 53

What is the correct procedure for bleeding the fuel system?

Loosen the bleed plug on the fuel filter by approximately two turns. Operate the priming lever on the fuel supply pump until fuel flows free of air bubbles, then tighten the plug. Finally, loosen the union on each injector one at a time to allow any remaining air to escape. p. 198

What is the pressure relief valve setting for the hydraulic lift system on the Case IH JX60–JX95 Series?

The pressure relief valve for the hydraulic lift system is factory set to 186 - 191 bar (2698 - 2770 psi). p. 419
