Part of the Case IH Repair Manuals.
This is Case IH Service Manual 48068911, 1st edition October 2016, for Patriot 3240 and 3340 Tier 4B (final) sprayers, PIN YGT044001 and above.
It covers pulling the engine with the SCR aftertreatment, the pump drive gearbox, and the powered front and rear axles with active suspension. It also gives hydrostatic pressure tests for each model, boom valve banks, CAN bus checks and fault codes. Both machines get their own vehicle and engine electrical schematics, plus fold-out hydraulic schematics.

Case IH Patriot 3240, Patriot 3340 Common Problems This Manual Covers
Machine will not move
Start with the simple checks: hydraulic oil level, and whether the park brake switch is ON. Next, confirm the park brake actually released and check the neutral safety switch adjustment. Then go through the fuses, relays, wiring and the power train control module. The drive circuit troubleshooting chart ends with the park brake valve and the motor control valve.
Manual Section: Hydrostatic drive: drive circuit troubleshooting p. 283Engine does not crank when the key is turned to start
First confirm the batteries are charged, the 150 A circuit breaker is closed, the hydrostatic lever is in neutral and the park brake is on. Then check fuse #1, test the ignition switch and adjust the neutral safety switch. Last, test the intermediate starter relay and the starter motor, in that order.
Manual Section: Starting system troubleshooting p. 1714Controller shows no product pressure at the booms
Switch the rate controller to MAN first. If pressure comes back normal, the fault is in the controller. If it doesn't, open the manual shutoff valves and check the hydraulic oil and product tank levels. Then test the product pump control valve, the PWM valve driver and the pump ON sensor before you suspect the product pump or its motor.
Manual Section: Liquid fertilizer: product pump circuit troubleshooting p. 2381Hard steering, or slow or no steering response
Check the hydraulic oil level, then clean or replace the suction strainer if it's clogged. Test the steering cylinder, and repair or replace it if it isn't working properly. If those check out, adjust the compensator on the pressure compensated pump. Replace the pump if it's worn or damaged.
Manual Section: Hydraulic systems: cylinder circuit troubleshooting p. 425Frequently Asked Questions
How much engine oil does the Patriot 3240 or 3340 take?
Plan on about 17 l (4.5 US gal) if you change the filter too, and about 16 l (4.2 US gal) if you don't. The manual gives both figures as approximate. p. 32
What torque do the wheel lug nuts on the Patriot 3240 and 3340 need?
Torque them to 608 - 675 N·m (448 - 498 lb ft). Front and rear wheels use the same spec, so one wrench setting covers every wheel on the machine. p. 694
What should the hydrostatic charge pressure be on my Patriot?
That depends on the model, and the two numbers are not interchangeable. A Patriot 3240 should read 27 - 29 bar (392 - 420 psi) at high idle, measured at port Fa. A Patriot 3340 should read 24.1 bar (350 psi) at 1300 RPM, measured at port M3. Warm the oil to 49 °C (120 °F) before you test. p. 314
How much refrigerant goes in the Patriot 3240 and 3340 air conditioning?
The A/C system uses R134A, and it holds 1.65 kg (3.63 lb). p. 32
How much flow should the gear pump that drives the product pump deliver?
Maximum flow is 70.7 l/min (18.7 US gpm). In the flow test at 2200 RPM, the meter should read about 63 - 70 l/min. Below 57 l/min (15.0 US gpm) the pump is losing efficiency, and it should be replaced if sprayer performance is poor. p. 444
