Part of the Case IH Repair Manuals.
Case IH service manual 48182662, 1st edition August 2017, is the book to have open on the fender when you pull the gearbox fill plug, re-splice a belt or hook a spring scale to the net. It covers RB455, RB465 and RB565 round balers from PIN YGN192828 and above, in Hay, Silage, Rotor Feeder, Rotor Cutter and Premium versions.
Guessing on a baler costs you. An orifice fitted backwards, a density relief set by feel or a slip clutch nobody checked can mean a second teardown while the hay lies in the windrow.
It covers the main gearbox and clutches and every hydraulic circuit with its schematic. It also covers Deluxe and ISOBUS electrics with wiring schematics and fault codes, plus the pickup, rotor, belts, net and twine.

Case IH RB455, RB465, RB565 Common Problems This Manual Covers
Tailgate opens slowly
Start at the tractor, because the remote must deliver at least 30 L/min (8 US gpm) at 110 to 190 bar. Then pull the orifice. It goes in with the large slot facing down and has to move freely. Overtightened fittings or the wrong orifice will also slow the tailgate. The Tailgate circuit section and its hydraulic schematic show where everything sits.
Manual Section: Hydraulic systems - Troubleshooting p. 190Bale forming belts do not track properly
Uneven crop feeding is one cause, so feed the crop evenly across the pickup width. Next, check the tailgate rolls and adjust them if needed. Clear any debris or wrapped twine off the rolls. Re-splice any belt that was not spliced square. The Bale formation section covers belt troubleshooting, the rolls and the splice.
Manual Section: Bale forming belts - Troubleshooting p. 1294Poor net cut quality
The cause is either a binding knife mechanism or dull net knives. With the PTO off and the key out, work the knife through its travel and confirm it moves freely. Then clean and sharpen the knives. The Net wrapper section covers the net knife, duckbill, net brake and net troubleshooting.
Manual Section: Net wrapper - Troubleshooting p. 1494Twine is not being cut
Three things cause it: a dull or damaged knife, debris packed on the knife striker or a knife that is out of alignment. Sharpen or replace the knife and clean the striker. Then line the knife edge up with the striker. The Twine wrapper section covers the twine arms, twine knife and twine troubleshooting.

What tractor PTO and hydraulics does the RB455 or RB465 need?
The RB455 and RB465 run on a 540 RPM or 1000 RPM PTO. Your tractor's remote hydraulics must supply at least 30 L/min (8 US gpm) at 110 to 190 bar (1600 to 2755 psi). That flow should raise the tailgate in 6 seconds or less. On a rotor cutter, allow an extra 1.1 kW (1.5 Hp) of tractor power for each knife. p. 54
Which oil goes in the main gearbox, how much, and how often do I check it?
The main gearbox takes SAE 80W-90 gear lube. Most versions take 1.9 L (2.0 US qt), and the versions marked in the specification take 2.0 L (2.1 US qt). Check the level weekly, every 50 hours or every 1000 bales. Change the gearbox oil after the first 50 hours of use. p. 71
How do I set net tension on the net wrapper?
Push the duckbill fully in, open the tailgate and engage the tailgate lockout valve. Route the net through the spreader rolls and duckbill, then pull a length out. Twist it into a rope, knot it and hook a spring scale to the knot. Retract the duckbill and pull slowly and steadily. You want 43 kgf (95 lbf), and never more than 50 kgf (110 lbf). Tighten the brake nut for more tension or back it off for less, then lock the jam nut. Cut the net to leave a 7.6 to 10.2 cm (3 to 4 in) tail. Then disengage the lockout valve and close the tailgate. p. 1455
What tire pressure and wheel torque do the RB455, RB465 and RB565 balers use?
Run 240 kPa (35 psi) in 31X13.5-15 8 ply tires and 186 to 255 kPa (27 to 37 psi) in 18L-16.1SL 10 ply tires. Run 140 kPa (20 psi) in 21.5L-16.1 10 ply tires. Torque 31X13.5-15 lug bolts to 156 to 183 N·m (115 to 135 lb ft). Torque 18L-16.1SL lug nuts to 380 to 407 N·m (280 to 300 lb ft). Torque 21.5L-16.1 lug bolts to 203 to 230 N·m (150 to 170 lb ft). p. 52
How do I safely remove crop wrapped around the bale forming rollers?
Finish, wrap and eject the bale, then leave the tailgate fully open. Disengage the PTO, stop the engine and pull the key. Engage the serpentine arm lockout pin to take tension off the belts. Lower the tailgate partway so the belts go slack. Stop the engine again and engage the tailgate lockout valve before you climb into the bale chamber. Never climb on the outside of the baler. Turn the belts by hand as needed, cut the wrap off the rollers and clear it out. To finish, reposition the belts and disengage the lockout valve. Raise the tailgate without the PTO, release the serpentine arm lockout pin and lower the tailgate. p. 45
