Part of the Case IH Operator Manuals.
Powershift, Autoshift and 24-speed transmission operation is where this 258-page Case IH STX280, STX330 operator manual PDF (OEM ID 87366119) earns its keep, and from there it widens to every control and field setting on these Steiger tractors. Remote hydraulics, hitch setup with the Category III or IV-N coupler, PTO and drawbar fill much of the field operation chapter, while the instrumentation section shows you how to program the display monitor, calibrate the radar and read critical warning displays. Ballast, tire pressures for rated load and the lubrication chart that sets your service intervals each get proper coverage. At an oil change, fill the STX280 with 6.3 gallons of engine oil and the STX330 with 6.75, then torque wheel to hub bolts to 390-420 lb ft. Every day the Steiger sits idle, you lose part of the planting window. Bookmarked chapters and a searchable text layer take you straight to the right page, so the tractor is pulling again before the weather turns.

Case IH STX280, STX330 Common Problems This Manual Covers
Case IH STX280 and STX330 red stop light flashing with ENGINE OIL PRESSURE VERY LOW message
Shut the engine off immediately. Page 77 says Level 1 warnings will not clear with the RESET button. Check the engine oil level with the dipstick pushed completely down (page 195), then look for other causes. If you have to move the tractor off the field, cycle the key switch to get another 30 seconds of running time, but the manual warns that damage to the tractor can occur.
Manual Section: Warning Fault Displays (Critical) p. 77Engine coolant temp very high warning with engine stop icon flashing and continuous alarm
Shut the engine off immediately, check the coolant level, and check the radiator for blockage, following page 77. Never pour coolant into the radiator while the engine is very hot. Page 212 warns this can damage the engine. If the Level 2 ENGINE COOLANT TEMP HIGH warning keeps coming back, check for a blocked air cooler and contact your dealer if the condition persists.
Manual Section: Warning Fault Displays (Critical) p. 77Hydraulic oil temp high warning keeps returning on programmable display after pressing RESET
Check the air cooler for blockage, which is the corrective action page 80 gives for this Level 2 warning. If it escalates to HYDRAULIC OIL TEMP VERY HIGH, shut the engine off immediately, check the oil level, and check for a blocked cooler per page 77. The hydraulic reservoir holds 25 Gal. (95.0 Liters) per page 187. If the condition persists, contact your dealer.
Manual Section: Non-Critical Warning Fault Displays p. 80Transmission, hitch, or steering controller off line message on programmable display
Check the fuse and replace it if needed: #39 for the transmission controller, #41 for the hitch, #40 for the remote hydraulic (AUX) controller, or #43 for steering, following page 78. Each of these faults means that controller is not communicating over the data cable. Do not operate the tractor with the fuse/relay cover removed (page 61). If the condition persists, contact your dealer.
Manual Section: Non-Critical Warning Fault Displays p. 78Battery voltage low warning with amber light staying on while engine runs
Check the alternator belt, check the battery water level, and test the battery. Page 81 lists these steps for voltage below 11 volts. Add distilled water up to the split ring in each cell per page 213, and never charge a frozen battery because it can explode. Battery acid causes severe burns, so avoid contact with skin, eyes or clothing and always shield your eyes near batteries; ventilate when charging (page 213). Keep sparks and flame away from the battery, and remove the Negative (-) cable first when disconnecting (page 20).
Manual Section: Level 3 Warning Faults p. 81TURN PTO OFF, HITCH CAPTURE, AUX NEUTRAL, or SIT DOWN message at startup
Move the power take off switch to OFF, put the remote hydraulic levers back to neutral, and move the hitch position control to match the actual hitch position, following page 79. For SIT DOWN, shift to PARK, sit down, and then proceed. Never try to bypass the Operator Presence Safety Switch by putting heavy objects on the seat (page 28). If the condition persists, contact your dealer.
Manual Section: Non-Critical Warning Fault Displays p. 79Frequently Asked Questions
How do I reset the transmission or transmission fault codes on a Case IH STX280 or STX330?
To reset a transmission fault, move the transmission control lever to the NEUTRAL or PARK position. This action is intended to reset and reengage the transmission. p. 107
How do I clear the service or maintenance warning on a Case IH STX280/STX330?
To clear a service reminder, press the 'A', 'B', or 'RESET' key on the keypad. This will acknowledge the reminder, though the screen will re-display in four hours if the service function is not reset. p. 91
What are the replacement specifications for the engine oil and filter on the STX280 and STX330?
The engine oil should be changed every 500 hours or once a year, whichever comes first (page 206). The STX 280 has an oil exchange capacity of 6.3 gallons (23.8 liters), and the STX 330 has a capacity of 6.75 gallons (27.4 liters). p. 187
What is the correct torque for the wheel weight bolts on a Case IH STX280, STX330?
The wheel weight bolt torque for M16 Grade 10.9 bolts and nuts is 270 to 350 Nm (200-260 ft lb). p. 170
What is the procedure for changing the engine coolant?
Every 6000 hours or 2 years, drain, flush, and change the engine coolant. When refilling, use the 50/50 water and ethylene glycol coolant (page 187) together with Supplemental Coolant Additive (page 228). Note that you must loosen the deaeration tank cap to the first notch to release pressure before removing it, as hot coolant can spray under pressure. p. 226
What exactly do I receive with this Case IH STX280 Operator Manual?
Straight to your device: 258 pages of searchable Operator Manual, downloadable the moment payment goes through.
Can I print a copy of this Case IH STX280 Operator Manual for the shop?
