New Holland E17C Common Problems This Manual Covers
Engine does not start
The engine troubleshooting table in the Engine section lists no fuel as a cause, and the remedy is to replenish fuel. If the tank is full, the Engine Fuel, Air Intake and Exhaust section covers the fuel lines, filters, injection pump and nozzles. The Engine section also covers compression testing.
Manual Section: Engine - Troubleshooting p. 94Oil leaking at the main hydraulic pump
The Main Pump and Main Control Valve section traces pump oil leakage to a damaged O-ring or packing, and the fix is to replace it. Use the pump sectional views and overhaul steps to find the leaking seal. When the pump goes back on, torque the M12 × 1.75 mounting bolts to 122.4 - 165.6 N·m (90.3 - 122.1 lb ft).
Manual Section: Pump - Troubleshooting p. 395Travel motor doesn't start
The travel motor troubleshooting table in the Hydraulic Travel System section traces this to a defect in the reducer or damaged inner parts. The fix is to replace the damaged part as a kit. The same section covers the planetary reduction gear, travel brake valve, motor overhaul and performance testing. On assembly the procedure fills 0.33 L (0.09 US gal) gear oil in the body of the travel reduction gear.
Manual Section: Travel motor - Troubleshooting p. 657Fuel gauge malfunction
If the gauge moves up and down at lamp check, turn the starter switch OFF and disconnect harness connector CN-56. Measure the resistance between terminal 18 and ground. If it reads more than 1 kΩ, the wiring harness is broken, so find the break and repair it. This procedure is under instrument cluster troubleshooting. The Harnesses section has the connector diagrams and wire colors.
Manual Section: Instrument cluster - Service instruction - Troubleshooting p. 1125Frequently Asked Questions
