New Holland T4030V, T4040V Common Problems This Manual Covers
Excessive noise from the creeper
The creeper troubleshooting in the Transmission section traces this noise to worn or defective internal components. The fix is to remove the clutch casing to reach them, then replace the damaged parts. The creeper procedures sit in the Transmission section with the reverser and Hi-Lo unit.
Manual Section: Transmission - Creeper - Troubleshooting p. 177PTO slips and loses speed at the grooved PTO shaft terminal
The rear mechanical PTO control troubleshooting in the Power Take-Off (PTO) section lists two causes. Either the clutch disk or the engine flywheel pressure plate is worn, or the PTO clutch lever is out of adjustment. Check the data, replace the worn parts, then adjust the clutch lever.
Manual Section: Power Take-Off (PTO) - Rear mechanical control - Troubleshooting p. 448Brake pedal stroke too long
The hydraulic service brakes troubleshooting in the Brakes and Controls section points to air in the brake circuit. Follow the circuit bleeding procedure in the same section to purge it. Once the pedal firms up, use the pressure tests to confirm the system against the 17.6 bar (255.20 psi) working pressure for the hydraulic service brakes.
Manual Section: Brakes and controls - Hydraulic service brakes - Troubleshooting p. 477Three-point hitch lift does not rise
The rear three-point hitch troubleshooting in the Hitches, Drawbars and Implement Couplings section blames a clogged oil filter. Replace the filter, which is covered under reservoir, cooler and filters in the Hydraulic Systems section. If the lift still will not rise, check the 180 bar (2610.000 psi) lift relief valve setting before you strip the lift assembly.
Manual Section: Hitches, drawbars, and implement couplings - Rear three-point hitch - Troubleshooting p. 736Frequently Asked Questions
Which New Holland tractors does this service manual cover?
It covers the T4030V and T4040V, with cab and without cab, including Model Year 2012 versions. The book is New Holland part number 47888352, in English, dated July 2016 and written for the Latin America market. Engine codes are F5AE9484B for the T4030V and F5AE9484G for the T4040V. p. 2
What engine speeds give the rated PTO speeds?
Run the engine at 2196 RPM for 540 RPM at the PTO shaft. The 540E setting needs only 1535 RPM at the engine. The optional 1000 RPM PTO calls for 2260 RPM. p. 428
What hydraulic pressures and pump outputs are listed?
The maximum pressure valve on the side auxiliary valves is calibrated at 190 - 195 bar (2755 - 2827 psi). The rear hydraulic lift pressure relief valve is set at 180 bar (2610.000 psi). Rated output depends on which pump is fitted. The A 25 gives 28.19 l/min, the A 31 XRP2 gives 34.77 l/min and the C 42 high-flow pump gives 47.36 l/min. p. 545
How much transmission oil and A/C refrigerant are specified?
The engine removal procedure gives the prescribed quantity for the transmission casing as 44 l (11.62 US gal). On cab versions the climate control system takes 0.75 kg (1.653 lb) of HFC R134A refrigerant. p. 24
Does the manual include wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics and fault codes?
Yes. The harnesses and connectors section has numbered electrical schematic sheets. Sheet 01 covers the battery cut-out, power socket and wiper/washer pumps circuit, and sheet 14 covers the engine, sensors and transmitters circuit. Component diagrams are included too. The hydraulic systems section has hydraulic schemas for mechanical and Power Shuttle transmission tractors and for the remote control valves. The fault codes DTC section has diagnostic cards such as 1008-Fast up/down switch failure and 2021-Transmission harness disconnected. p. 923
