Part of the New Holland Operator Manuals.
Publication 42644511 is printed on the cover of this LS45-17H operator manual. Pull the seat pan on one of these yard tractors and the interlock switch is the first thing that decides whether the engine cranks at all.
The 46 pages run Safety, Gasoline and Oil, Operation, Maintenance and Troubleshooting. Maintenance alone covers pages 19 through 37: service interval chart, crankcase capacity of 4 pints (1.9 l), 12 psi in the front and rear tires, front wheel toe-in of 1/8 to 1/4 inch, and the four blade fuses.
It downloads as a PDF, so print the pages you need, set them on the bench, and let them get dirty while you work.

New Holland LS45-17H Common Problems This Manual Covers
Engine cranks but will not start
For an engine that will not start, starts hard or fails to keep running, the troubleshooting table lists an empty fuel tank, the choke not on, a dirty air cleaner, a loose or disconnected spark plug wire, a pitted, fouled or incorrectly gapped spark plug (install a new, correctly gapped plug), dirt in the fuel filter (replace it) and dirt, water or stale fuel in the fuel system (contact your authorized service dealer) (page 38). To start, sit on the seat, set the parking brake, push the PTO to OFF and move the choke to ON (page 12).
Manual Section: Operation p. 38Engine stops when the operator rises from the seat
The safety interlock system prevents the engine from starting unless you are sitting on the seat, the brake pedal is depressed and the power take off (PTO) is OFF, and it is designed to stop the engine if you rise from the seat when the brake pedal is released or the PTO is ON. With the key in RUN or LIGHTS and the PTO engaged, the PTO light in the indicator module is a reminder to turn the PTO off before getting off. Test the interlock system before each use (page 13).
Manual Section: Operation p. 13Dead at the key, no crank
For a starter that does not crank, the troubleshooting table lists the blade control (PTO) engaged (move it to disengaged), the parking brake not on, the operator not seated, a dead battery (charge it), corroded or loose electrical connections, a blown fuse (replace it) and a defective relay or switch (page 38). The blade-type fuses are 5 amp dash/hour meter, 10 amp head lights, 25 amp alternator and 30 amp main/starter (page 31), and the battery is 12 V with 280 cold cranking amps (page 33).
Manual Section: Maintenance p. 38Machine does not drive
If the machine does not drive, check that the drive control is not in the PUSH position and move it to OPERATE; a traction belt that is worn, loose, broken or off its pulley needs your authorized service dealer (page 39).
Manual Section: Troubleshooting p. 39Tractor wanders, front tires scrub
Check tire pressure with the tires cold after every 25 operating hours or monthly; the specification is 12 psi front and rear (page 26). Check front wheel toe-in after every 100 operating hours or yearly: the specification is 1/8 to 1/4 inch, adjusted by loosening the jam nut and rotating the ball joint one turn clockwise to increase or counterclockwise to decrease toe-in (page 30).
Manual Section: Maintenance p. 30Hard starting after winter storage
For storage, add a fuel stabilizer/conditioner, which prevents the gum-like buildup in the fuel system that causes hard starting; stabilizer/conditioners normally preserve gasoline for six to eight months. The storage steps also cover changing the crankcase oil and oiling the cylinder through the spark plug hole (page 37). Recommended gasoline and filling the fuel tank are covered in Gasoline and Oil (page 10).
