An hour from now you could be tracing fault 301.07 to a binding duckbill instead of guessing why the net wrap quit mid-windrow. This manual covers the Roll-Belt 450, 460, 550, and 560 round balers, from pickup teeth and rotor cutter to the Bale Command II Plus and ISOBUS electronics.

Every hydraulic circuit gets full diagnosis and repair steps: bale density, tailgate, pickup lift, cutter control, drop floor, and bale eject, with component locations and test procedures for each. The fault code tables, harness pinouts, and eight sheets of electrical schematics are covered just as deep.

When hay is down and rain is two days out, the fix has to happen in the field. Keep this on the tablet in the tractor cab and the diagnostic steps ride with the baler.

New Holland 450-560 Common Problems This Manual Covers

Net wrap only partially covers the bale or throws a wrapping error

Start with the Tying/Wrapping section on the net wrapper: check duckbill travel, knife action, and the spiral rollers, since chaff and rough roller surfaces stop the net spreading to the bale edges. Then confirm feed voltage per the electrical section.

Manual Section: Tying/Wrapping/Twisting p. 1494
Wrap fault codes like 301.07 during auto cycle

The electrical section decodes the fault: 301.07 flags duckbill motor current above 22 amps for over a second. Follow the diagnostic tree for binding duckbill, binding net knife, or weak supply before swapping the motor or the control module on a guess.

Manual Section: Electrical systems p. 882
Chains, sprockets, and roller bearings wearing out early

The lubrication chapter covers the grease system, the chain oiler, and roller chain maintenance, plus oiler and gearbox capacities such as the 1.9 to 2.0 liter gearbox fill. Keeping the oiler fed and adjusted is the cheapest bearing insurance these balers get.

Manual Section: Lubrication system p. 46

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does auto net wrap fail on my Roll-Belt when manual wrap works fine?

That is the classic complaint on these balers. The manual lists the intermittent auto-wrap causes on page 1494: duckbill binding, net knife binding, or a weak power source. If you get fault 301.07, the duckbill motor pulled over 22 amps for more than a second, which usually means mechanical drag, not a bad motor. Work the checks in order before buying parts. p. 882

What do New Holland Roll-Belt error codes mean?

The electrical section carries the full fault code tables for the Bale Command II Plus and ISOBUS controls. Codes read as component and failure type. For example, 100.04 means battery supply voltage is too low, and the manual sends you to the tractor diagnostic screen to check for charging faults first. That one page can save you from replacing a module that was only starved for volts. p. 791

How do I reset the Roll-Belt monitor software?

The display section covers clearing the monitor with the DELETE ALL APPLICATIONS / FILES button, then reloading the baler software. The manual walks through the screens so you do not wipe settings you wanted to keep. It also covers module programming and harness checks if the monitor still acts up after a clean load. p. 469

Does it give wheel lug torque and tire specs?

Yes, by tire size. The 31x13.5-15 8 ply takes 156 to 183 N-m (115 to 135 lb ft), the 18L-16.1SL 10 ply takes 380 to 407 N-m (280 to 300 lb ft), and the 21.5L-16.1 10 ply takes 203 to 230 N-m (150 to 170 lb ft). Tongue weight limits are listed too: 776 kg for the 450 and 889 kg for the 460. p. 52

Does it cover belt and pickup repair, or just electronics?

The bale formation section covers belts, belt de-clutch, starter roll, stripper roll, floor roll, and the sledge. Product feeding covers the pickup, wide pickup with overshot feeder, rotor cutter, and stuffer. Those are exactly the wear areas: pickup teeth, belt splices, and roller bearings are what these machines eat first. Service specs for the gearbox and chain oiler are in the introduction chapter.
