The plate under the cab door tells you where you stand: if the serial reads ZDJT13873 or above, this is the book New Holland printed for that tractor, factory publication 48071323, 382 pages in English.

It covers the T4.75, T4.85, T4.95, T4.105 and T4.115 with the F5DFL413 series engines. Controls and Instruments walks the cab, Working Operations covers transmission, four wheel drive and the differential lock, and the Maintenance chapter carries the maintenance chart, capacities and the wheel and hub torque figures you need before the drill goes back on.

When a warning lamp comes up mid-season, the Troubleshooting chapter lists fault code resolution for the engine, electrical, hydraulic, rear three-point hitch, brake and cab climate systems, so you can sort the tractor yourself instead of waiting on a service call while the weather turns. Buy it once and it stays yours for as long as you own the tractor.

New Holland T4.75–T4.115 Common Problems This Manual Covers

Wheel nuts loosen after ballast changes

Moving wheels in or out for row spacing, or hanging cast weight on them, means the nuts have to come back to spec before field work. The manual gives 220 N·m for the front M16 disc to hub nuts, 310 N·m for the rear M18, and 250.0 N·m on the disc to rim nuts.

Manual Section: Working Operations p. 279
Hitch lifts slowly with a clogged filter

A three-point hitch that lifts lazily or creeps down under an implement often traces back to a lift oil filter left past its change interval. The Maintenance section covers the change and tells you to tighten the new filter until the seal contacts the mounting surface, then another 3/4 of a turn by hand.

Manual Section: Maintenance p. 272
Remote coupler will not take the hose

Trapped pressure and a grit-packed face keep a push-pull coupler from seating, and guessing at the size costs you a morning at the parts counter. Working Operations documents the remote valves, each with two 1/2 inch quick-fitting female push-pull couplers that mate to pressurised male ends.

Manual Section: Working Operations p. 154
Air seat bottoms out on rough ground

An air suspension seat that sinks through a long day is usually a leaking bellows or a compressor being run wrong. The Controls and Instruments section covers seat setup and notes the compressor should not be operated for more than 1 min at a time.

Manual Section: Controls and Instruments p. 86
Slow cranking on cold mornings

A tired or undersized battery shows itself on the first frosty start before chores, and the wrong replacement makes it worse. The Specifications chapter lists the battery at 88 A·h to 100 A·h and the starter power supply at 3.2 kW or 4.2 kW, so you can check what is actually fitted.

Manual Section: Specifications p. 359
Overfilling at the engine oil change

Pouring the whole jug in rather than filling to the dipstick mark pushes oil past seals and into the breather. The capacities in the Maintenance section call for 9.50 L of engine oil including the filter, and the same page gives the 115.00 L fuel tank for planning a long day's cutting.

Manual Section: Maintenance p. 249
Fault code on the dash mid-season

A code with the baler still hooked on forces a decision: keep going or shut down. Troubleshooting runs fault code resolution across the engine, electrical system, hydraulics, rear three-point hitch, hydraulic service brakes and cab climate control, with probable causes and corrections in order.

Manual Section: Troubleshooting p. 315

Frequently Asked Questions

Which tractors and serial numbers does this manual cover?

The cover on page 1 lists the New Holland T4.75, T4.85, T4.95, T4.105 and T4.115 tractors, PIN ZDJT13873 and above, part number 48071323. The technical data on page 356 pairs them with the F5DFL413A, F5DFL413L, F5DFL413K, F5DFL413J and F5DFL413H engines. p. 1

Is this an operator manual or a repair manual?

It is the operator manual. It covers running the tractor, the Maintenance section with the maintenance chart, service intervals and capacities, and fault code troubleshooting. It does not carry engine overhaul or transmission teardown procedures; those live in the service manual. p. 237

What are the wheel nut torque figures for the New Holland T4.75–T4.115?

The wheel tighten check on page 279 specifies 220 N·m (162.3 lb ft) for the front M16 disc to hub nuts, 310 N·m (228.6 lb ft) for the rear M18 disc to hub nuts, and 250.0 N·m (184.4 lb ft) for the disc to rim nuts. Check them again after any wheel or ballast change. p. 279

Will it help me with a warning light or fault code?

Yes. The Troubleshooting chapter gives fault code resolution for the engine, electrical system, hydraulic systems, rear three-point hitch, hydraulic service brakes and cab climate control, listing the probable cause and the correction for each condition. p. 315
