Part of the New Holland Operator Manuals.
Safety comes first in this 174-page New Holland TT55 operator manual PDF (OEM ID 87036923), which opens with personal, PTO and ROPS precautions before covering daily use of the TT55 and TT75 tractors. Instrument panel, control switches and hand controls come next, and the Operation chapter then explains starting and stopping the engine, ground speed and PTO speed selection, the independent power take-off, hydraulic lift and three-point linkage. Troubleshooting pages cover the engine, electrical system, hydraulic lift and 3-point equipment coupling, and brakes, while Pre-Delivery and First 50-Hour Service lists close the book. Your TT55 engine takes 9.0 liters (9.5 quarts) of SAE 15W-40. PTO clutch linkage free play is 4.5 mm (0.18 in.). For the radiator coolant service, the inhibitor to order is Part No. FW-15, mixed at 5%. Bookmarks take you straight to Lubrication and Maintenance, and the text layer finds hydrostatic steering or fuel filter entries in seconds.

New Holland TT55, TT75 Common Problems This Manual Covers
New Holland TT55 and TT75 tractor diesel engine will not start or is difficult to start
Check the fuel level first. Bleed the fuel system if air got in, and replace a clogged fuel filter element, following the chart on page 139. Confirm engine oil viscosity and fuel type suit the temperature conditions. Crank no longer than 15 seconds, then wait one minute, and never leave the key in Thermostart over 20 seconds with the engine off (page 44). For a suspected injector fault, contact your dealer.
Manual Section: Engine Troubleshooting p. 139Engine overheating under load with coolant level low in the expansion tank
Check coolant with the engine stopped (page 40), and open the pressurized cap carefully as page 22 warns. Top up the expansion tank, check the system for leaks and tighten hose connectors per page 140. Clean the radiator core. Keep hands and clothing clear of the rotating fan and belts (page 17) while checking belt tension, and replace a worn belt. Check the thermostat, which starts opening at 79° C ± 2° C (page 153).
Manual Section: Engine Troubleshooting p. 140Engine oil pressure low and abnormal engine knocking heard with the engine running
Check the engine oil level with the engine stopped (page 40), and add oil as required following page 140. If the grade or viscosity is wrong, drain and refill with SH / CG-4, SAE 15W-40, API CF-4 oil as listed on page 97. Normal oil pressure is 2.9 to 3.9 bar (page 152). If pressure stays low or the knock continues with the level correct, contact your dealer.
Manual Section: Engine Troubleshooting p. 140Alternator light stays on when engine is running and battery not charging
Check idle speed and increase it if low, then check the alternator belt tensioning device per page 142. Measure battery voltage with a digital voltmeter. It should read at least 12.6 volts. Also check electrolyte level and specific gravity. Wear eye protection near the battery (page 25), and never top up with sulphuric acid or use a rapid boost charger (page 38). If the battery checks out, have your dealer check the alternator.
Manual Section: Electrical System Troubleshooting p. 142Starter motor does not work or turns slowly with the key in the start position
Check that the gear lever and PTO lever are in neutral. Page 55 notes the engine will not start unless the PTO is disengaged. Clean and tighten loose or corroded connections, confirm at least 12.6 volts, and charge or replace a flat battery per page 142. Replace a damaged switch. Operate the starter only from the driver's seat and never bypass the key-start switch (page 46).
Manual Section: Electrical System Troubleshooting p. 142Three-point linkage does not lift fully or the hydraulic lift operates slowly in draft control
Adjust the link arm top limiter if the linkage stops short of full lift, and check that the linkage cylinder tubes are connected correctly per page 144. Reduce the load if the linkage is overloaded. If the lift is slow in draft control, adjust the combined draft/position control and the implement settings. Check the area beneath the equipment before lowering (page 42). If lowering speed stays wrong, have the valves checked.
Manual Section: Hydraulic Lift and 3-Point Equipment Coupling Troubleshooting p. 144Frequently Asked Questions
How do I bleed the fuel system on a New Holland TT55 or TT75?
To bleed the fuel system, loosen the filter bleed screw and press the primer pump plunger several times until the fuel coming out of the bleed screw hole is free from bubbles. Retighten the filter bleed screw and press the plunger several more times until you feel resistance, which indicates there is no air in the system. p. 114
How do I adjust the clutch pedal free play on a New Holland TT55 or TT75?
The clutch pedal free play should be approximately 19-25.4 mm (3/4-1 in.). To adjust, loosen the link arm locknut and turn the clevis to lengthen or shorten the operating rod until the correct free play is achieved, then resecure the clevis pin with a new split pin and retighten the locknut. p. 103
What is the correct engine valve clearance for the TT55 and TT75 tractors?
The engine valve clearance for both the inlet and exhaust valves should be 0.25 mm ±0.05 mm (0.010 in. ±0.002 in.) when the engine is cold. p. 123
What is the required torque for the ROPS safety frame bolts on the New Holland TT55, TT75?
The four long bolts that clamp each side of the safety frame to the rear axle housing must be tightened to a torque of 271 N·m (200 ft. lbs.). p. 112
What is the engine oil capacity for the TT55 and TT75 models?
The TT55 tractor requires 9.0 liters (9.5 quarts) of engine oil, while the TT75 tractor requires 11.7 liters (12.3 quarts) of engine oil, including the filter. p. 148
