The hitch will not lift a loaded implement, or you select forward and the tractor just sits there. This is the Case IH service manual for those days on the Farmall 110A, 120A, 125A and 140A. It is part number 47377791, 1st edition, November 2012.
It covers the clutch, the 8x8 and 16x8 Power Shuttle and mechanical transmissions, 4WD, both front axles, and the rear axle and final drives. It also covers the PTO, brakes, hydraulics, steering, cab A/C and wiring schematic frames. The engine chapter covers removal and installation only.

Case IH Farmall 110A–140A Common Problems This Manual Covers
Three-point hitch will not raise, or lifts slowly under load
Work down the Rear Three-Point Hitch troubleshooting table on page 775. Start with rear axle oil level and filter clogging, then check the relief valve setting. Then run the main pump test on page 725 at 2100 RPM. The relief valve should read 176 - 182 bar (2552 - 2639 psi). Only after that should you look at the control valve spool, lift cylinder or priority valve pack.

The Power Shuttle troubleshooting table on page 151 points to low system pressure or low forward/reverse clutch pressure. For the pressure test on page 142, warm the oil to 55 °C (130 °F) using the PTO, remotes and steering. Install a 0 - 300 psi gauge at the low-pressure point and the FWD and REV ports. Page 143 calls for 1500 - 1800 kPa (218 - 261 psi). If the reading is out of range, adjust the low-pressure regulating valve and test again. If the pressure does not change, replace the valve. If it is still out, suspect an internal leak.

Page 61 lists this as clutch disc slip. Check the clutch adjustment, chafing of the clutch disc and pressure plate failure. First measure pedal free travel against page 53: 28 - 41 mm (1.102 - 1.614 in). If it is out, loosen the locknut on the clutch rod, adjust, and retorque the locknut to 34 N·m (25 lb ft). If adjustment does not cure it, split the tractor and inspect the 330 mm (13 in) dry disc.

The steering troubleshooting table on page 787 lists a damaged hydraulic pump, flow divider or steering cylinder leaks, and wear of the steering unit. For slow reaction, it says to check pump flow first. The steering pump test on page 727 runs at 2100 RPM with the load valve closed to 137 bar (1987 psi). Minimum flow is 27 l/min (7.1 US gpm) for a new pump and 24 l/min (6.3 US gpm) for a used one. Overhaul the pump if the flow is below that.

What are the torque specs for the Farmall 140A rear wheel nuts?
The powered rear axle spec on page 415 gives rear disc to hub nuts (manual adjust wheels) at 244 - 298 N·m (180 - 220 lb ft). Rear disc to rim nuts are 280 - 340 N·m (207 - 251 lb ft). The 140A uses the heavy duty rear axle with 4 planetary gears. p. 415
What is the hydraulic pressure test procedure for a Farmall 120A?
The main pump high pressure and flow test is on page 725. Set the engine to 2100 RPM and close the load valve until 137 bar (1987 psi). Keep oil temperature at or below 75 °C (167 °F). The relief valve must read 176 - 182 bar (2552 - 2639 psi). If it is out of range, replace the pump's pressure relief valve, then record flow at 166 bar (2407 psi). Page 707 lists main pump maximum flow at 2200 RPM: 49 l/min (13 US gpm) new and 44 l/min (12 US gpm) used. p. 725
Farmall 125A hitch will not lift or hydraulics are weak - where do I start?
Start with the cheap checks in the hitch troubleshooting table on page 775: rear axle oil level and a clogged filter. Next, pressure test the pump and check the relief valve setting. After that, the table points to the flow control valve, then the control valve (sticking valve or bent spool). The lift cylinder and priority valve pack come last. If the hitch lifts slowly only under load, the table also lists an implement that is too heavy and blocked oil galleries. p. 775
What hydraulic oil and how much does a Farmall 110A take?
Page 557 explains that the rear axle, transmission, steering, lubrication and hydraulic systems all run off the rear axle oil reservoir. Maximum capacity is 66 l (17.4 US gal) including the filter. The oil is CASE IH AKCELA NEXPLORE™ FLUID to CASE IH AGRICULTURE specification MAT 3525. p. 557
Does the Farmall 110A-140A service manual cover an engine rebuild?
No. The engine chapter on page 32 has two procedures: Engine - Remove and Engine - Install. The book has no engine overhaul steps and no engine specifications. What it gives you is the procedure for getting the engine out and back in, including the split between engine and transmission for clutch work. p. 32
