Strip down, set up and diagnose a Case IH Farmall 55A, 65A or 75A with this factory service manual. It is CNH part number 51489994, 1st edition October 2018. The spec tables apply to all three models alike.
It covers pre-delivery, clutch, transmission, 4WD, both axles, PTO, brakes, hydraulic lifter, steering, cab climate, loader and bodywork. Transmission chapters cover mechanical and power shuttle boxes, 8x8, 12x12 and 20x20 with crawl speed, at 30 or 40 km/h. Wiring schematics come in two sets, one for ROPS tractors and one for cab tractors.

Clutch slipping
The clutch is a two-disk dry setup with mechanical control. The book lists these slipping causes: worn clutch disks, worn pressure plate and flywheel, deformed or damaged disk springs, and disks contaminated with oil and grease. When you rebuild it, set the release sleeve opening clearance to 0.050 - 0.151 mm.

The dual-drive section lists these causes: faulty engage/disengage switch, faulty solenoid valve control contact, jammed solenoid valve, stretched spring, low transmission oil, blocked hydraulic oil filter and hydraulic pump malfunction. It covers both the mechanical control and the electro-hydraulic dual-drive gearbox, so you can work down the list on your version.

The PTO section lists these causes: insufficient transmission oil level, blocked oil filter, PTO clutch solenoid valve stuck in the feed position, seal leaks causing a pressure drop, and control valve malfunction. The electro-hydraulic control pages show the valve and solenoid layout.

The lifter section lists these causes for a load lowering with the engine off: worn piston retaining ring, uncalibrated drain valve, and oil leaking from the safety valve or check valve. For jerky lifting it lists low reservoir oil, a blocked pump inlet filter and air in the pump suction line.

What do the fault codes on a Farmall 55A / 65A / 75A mean?
Codes are printed as a number plus a DTC, like 3007 (DTC 131-03). That one means engine coolant temperature sensor B-9003 voltage is higher than expected, with a signal greater than 4.93 V. ECU A-9000 then uses a fixed replacement value of 89.96 °C (193.93 °F). Each code comes with context, cause, possible failure modes and a step-by-step solution using the Electronic Service Tool (EST) and a multimeter. Particulate filter codes are listed too. What are the wheel bolt torque specs for a Case IH Farmall 55A–75A tractor?
The M 16 x 1.5 bolts that hold the front wheel rim to the wheel hub take 260 N·m (26.5 kgm). The M 45 x 1.5 front wheel hub bearing lock nut takes 118 N·m (12 kgm). Both are in the front axle torque table, next to the final drive and differential procedures. p. 200
How much oil does the engine and transmission take?
The crankcase takes 7,9 L unfiltered / 8,6 L filtered of CASE IH AKCELA UNITEK 10W-40 or CASE IH AKCELA UNITEK SSL 0W-40. The mechanical transmission takes 30 L and the power shuttle takes 35 L. What engine speed gives 540 at the PTO shaft?
