Case IH Farmall 85C, Farmall 95C, Farmall 105C, Farmall 115C Common Problems This Manual Covers
The clutch slips under load
First suspect worn disks. Replace the worn parts, then adjust the levers on the pressure plates and reset the clutch controls. If the Belleville spring is stretched or damaged, replace it.
Manual Section: Clutch troubleshooting p. 161Steering wheel excessively stiff
A faulty hydraulic pump has to be repaired. A pressure relief valve that is set wrong has to be calibrated to 165 - 170 bar (2392.5 - 2465 psi). If foreign bodies are jamming the valve or holding it open, remove them and clean the filter.
Manual Section: Steering: power steering control valve troubleshooting p. 1103The lift operates in jerks
Start with the simple checks. If the oil level in the tank is low, top it up to the correct level. Clean or replace a clogged pump inlet filter. Air in the pump suction pipe also causes jerking, so check that pipe and every fitting on it.
Manual Section: Rear three-point hitch troubleshooting p. 1020Tractor does not move (Power Shuttle)
Check the system pressure first. The working pressure is 17.50 - 18.50 kg/cm² (248.91 - 263.13 psi). Then check the forward clutch pressure and the reverse clutch pressure separately. Repair whichever clutch reads low, as the manual directs.
Manual Section: Power Shuttle transmission troubleshooting p. 176Frequently Asked Questions
Does this manual cover my Farmall 85C, 95C, 105C or 115C?
Yes. It covers all four models, with and without cab. Hi-Lo transmission tractors are covered from PIN ZxJV0xxxx and above. Mechanical or Power Shuttle tractors are covered from PIN ZxJV5xxxx and above. The part number is 47840678, dated March 2015, and it replaces 47561951. p. 1
How much engine oil and fuel do the Farmall 85C to 115C take?
The engine takes 8.5 l (2 US gal) of CASE IH AKCELA UNITEK NO. 1 SBL CJ-4 SAE 10W-40. The fuel tank holds 115 l (30 US gal). For the front axle, use 4.5 l (1.2 US gal) and 1.0 l (0.3 US gal) in each final drive. p. 19
What does the Farmall 85C to 115C rear hitch lift?
It is a Category I and II hitch. At the ball ends it lifts 2430 kg (5357 lb) without the supplementary cylinder. With the supplementary cylinder fitted, it lifts 3018 kg (6654 lb). p. 950
What engine speed gives 540 RPM PTO speed on the Farmall 85C to 115C?
With the mechanical one-speed PTO, 1957 engine RPM gives 540 RPM at the PTO. The manual also covers the 540/540E and 540/1000 PTO versions. p. 640
Does the manual include wiring diagrams and fault codes?
Yes. There are electrical schematic sheets for each configuration, starting with sheet 01 for the battery, alternator and PDU. For each code, the fault codes section gives the control module, cause, possible failure modes and solution. p. 1353
