Case IH Farmall 90C–120C Common Problems This Manual Covers
Fault code 3146 (DTC 4415) Water in fuel detected or water in fuel circuit failure
Step one in the Fault codes section is to drain the water out of the fuel filter. If the code comes back on dry fuel, check the connector, then the harness, then the water in fuel sensor. The Engine section covers fuel tanks and filters if you need to replace the element.

Start with the coolant level. Then look for leaks and check for chaff packed into the cooler stack. The Engine section covers cooling, the fan and the aftercooler. If the system checks out, the Fault codes steps take you on to the coolant temperature sensor, its wiring and the ECU software.

The troubleshooting table lists four causes: a faulty hydraulic pump, a non-return valve held open or missing its ball, a pressure relief valve set wrong or jammed, and a steering column stiff on its bushing. Rule out the column by hand before you put a gauge on the pump.

The book points to air, non-condensable gas or humidity in the system, or a thermostatic expansion valve that is sending too much refrigerant or is stuck open. It also lists a damaged system. The Cab climate control troubleshooting tables take you from the symptom to the component.

Engine coolant temperature has passed the warning threshold, which the book puts at 111.96 °C (233.53 °F). The listed causes are low coolant, a leak or blockage in the cooling system, extreme heat or heavy work, the coolant temperature sensor or its wiring, and ECU software. Work through the Fault codes section's solution steps in order before you pull anything apart. p. 4071
What torque specs do I need to split a Case IH Farmall 90C-120C tractor?
The book gives 587 N·m (432.95 lb ft) for the front axle to engine block bolts. The gearbox to engine block bolts take 121 N·m (89.25 lb ft). The Engine section covers removal and installation, and the Introduction has standard torque data for hydraulic connections. Get the front axle bolts right, because they carry the loader and the front ballast. p. 46

What oil does it call for, and how much comes out of the transmission?
Engine oil is CASE IH AKCELA UNITEK NO. 1 SBL CJ-4 SAE 10W-40 (API CJ-4). The mechanical transmission drains 48.00 l (12.68 US gal). The consumables table names the correct products but does not list capacities. So measure what comes out of the other compartments and have enough on the shelf before you pull a plug. p. 32
