Case IH JX1080U, JX1090U, JX1100U Common Problems This Manual Covers
Engine does not start
Start with the cheap checks in the Engine troubleshooting chart: battery charge, corroded or loose terminals and fuel in the tank. Then check for water or dirt in the lines and air in the system, which needs bleeding. After that, test the fuel supply pump, thermostarter, starter motor and injection pump timing.

Check the coolant level at the expansion tank, the pump and fan belt tension and the air filter first. If those are fine, the Engine section covers the thermostat, coolant pump overhaul, radiator flushing and deposits in the head and crankcase passages. It also covers engine timing and injection pump calibration on a test bench.

The Clutch section traces slip to two causes: worn disks on the pressure plates and flywheel, or oil and grease on the friction material. Measure the disks against the limits and replace them. Adjust the release levers and linkage, and find and fix the oil source before you button it up.

Air in the circuit is the first item in the Brakes troubleshooting chart, so bleed the circuit before anything else. If the long pedal comes back, look at worn brake control pumps or leaking control pipes. Use the hydraulic diagram of the brakes to trace the lines on these oil-bath brakes.

How much engine oil does the JX1090U take, and what grade?
The sump holds 2.35 US gal. (8.9 liters) without the filter and 2.50 US gal. (9.5 liters) with the filter. The manual calls for Akcela No 1 Engine Oil, MS 1121 (SAE 15W-40) or NH 1121 (SAE 10W-30). p. 61
What is the cooling system capacity of the JX1100U with a cab?
With the cab it is 4.22 US gal. (16 liters). Without the cab it is 3.69 US gal. (14 liters). The manual specifies water and Akcela Premium Anti-Freeze mixed 50% + 50%. Top up through the expansion tank. p. 61
What are the valve clearances on the JX1080U, JX1090U and JX1100U engine?
Set them with the engine cold: intake 0.01 ± 0.001 in (0.30 ± 0.05 mm), exhaust 0.02 ± 0.001 in (0.55 ± 0.05 mm). p. 66
What battery does the JX1100U use?
