Covering six tractors from the MXM120 up to the MXM190, this Case IH MXM120 operator manual PDF runs 436 pages under OEM ID 82999278. Each transmission option gets its own controls chapter (Synchro Shift, Two Speed Powershift, Semi-Powershift and Full Powershift), followed by field operation of the front and rear PTO, mechanical draft control, electronic hitch control and trailer brakes. Fault finding covers engine, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes and electrics. On the MXM175 and MXM190, fit the 254 mm service replacement hydraulic filter rather than the 204 mm factory fit, and torque disc to hub fixings to 500 Nm (369 lbf.ft.); the MXM120 to MXM155 take 250 Nm. Whether you are due the 50-hour, 300-hour or 1200-hour/12 month service, each has its own section in the lubrication and maintenance chapter. Bookmarks and a searchable text layer take you straight to rear wheel track adjustment, so the discs go back on at those torques.

Case IH MXM120–MXM190 Series Common Problems This Manual Covers

Case IH MXM120 to MXM190 engine overheating during heavy field work with low coolant in recovery tank

Check the coolant recovery tank only after the engine cools. The system is pressurised, so turn the cap slowly to the first stop with a thick cloth and let pressure escape (page 345). Top up coolant and engine oil, then tighten or replace leaking hoses. Clean a dirty radiator core, check the fan belt tensioner, and shift to a lower gear or reduce draft load per page 385.

Manual Section: Engine Troubleshooting p. 385
Full powershift transmission jerky gear shifting and poor inching control when using the clutch pedal

Verify clutch calibration by running the transmission clutch calibration procedure. Uncalibrated clutches are the first cause the page 388 chart gives for jerky shifts and poor inching. If shifting stays rough, check the clutch pedal switch and re-adjust it. If neither step cures it, see your authorised dealer before working the tractor again.

Manual Section: Transmission - Semi or Full Powershift Troubleshooting p. 388
Powershift transmission showing low oil pressure and high operating temperature during heavy work

Check the transmission oil level with the engine stopped, because page 300 forbids servicing with the engine running, and add oil as required. If the grade or viscosity is wrong, drain and refill, but let hot oil cool to moderately warm first (page 341). Replace a blocked transmission oil filter, tightening it 3/4 of a turn after the faces just meet per page 335, and clean the oil cooler.

Manual Section: Transmission - Semi or Full Powershift Troubleshooting p. 388
Remote hydraulics oil overheats and remote equipment cylinders operate too fast or too slowly

Check the hydraulic oil level and correct it, since both too low and too high cause overheating on page 391. Clean a blocked hydraulic oil cooler and replace blocked oil filters. If the flow control is set wrong, allow the oil to cool, then adjust flow control before running the remote cylinders again. Mismatched hydraulic loads need your authorised dealer.

Manual Section: Hydraulics Troubleshooting p. 391
Three-point hitch status light flashes continually and linkage does not move with control lever

Check whether the lift control lever is out of phase with the lower links and put it back in phase, then recalibrate the 3-point linkage as page 392 directs. Verify the height limit control is positioned correctly. If an error code appears or the light keeps flashing after recalibration, suspect the electrical control circuit and see your authorised dealer.

Manual Section: Three-Point Hitch Troubleshooting p. 392
Starter cranks slowly and alternator light stays on with engine running

Clean and tighten loose or corroded battery connections, wearing eye protection and avoiding sparks near the batteries (pages 22 and 383). Check battery open circuit voltage for a minimum of 12.6 volts, plus electrolyte level and specific gravity. Check the drive belt and tensioner, and use correct viscosity engine oil for the ambient temperature. A suspect alternator goes to your authorised dealer, per page 394.

Manual Section: Electrical System Troubleshooting p. 394
