Case IH Quantum 65C, 75C, 85C, 95C Common Problems This Manual Covers
Rear lift won't hold the implement up, bobs with the engine running and settles with it off
The Rear Mechanical Hydraulic Lift troubleshooting table on page 396 lists the causes. It names a faulty check valve seal, oil leaking past the control valve block pin seat seals, a worn lift piston seal, or a cylinder safety valve set very low. If the lift rises but lacks capacity, check the relief valve setting procedure on page 420.

Clutch troubleshooting on page 149 lists worn disks, a distorted Belleville spring, or oil or grease on the friction linings. Oily linings mean new disks and fixing the source of the oil. Dragging points to deformed disks, seized linkage or controls out of adjustment. A noisy clutch points to a worn thrust bearing. The same chapter has bench overhaul procedures for the dual disk and Power Shuttle clutches.

Brake troubleshooting on page 365 lists three causes of a long pedal stroke: air in the brake circuit (bleed it), worn brake control pumps and leaking control pipes. For unbalanced braking, check tyre pressure, then worn control pumps, obstructed pipes and worn friction material. If the tractor stays braked with the parking brake released, the return stroke is obstructed or the braking sectors have seized on the disks.

The Steering chapter troubleshooting on page 549 traces hard steering to a faulty hydraulic pump or a non-return valve held open by debris. A missing ball, a sticking or badly set relief valve, or a stiff column bushing can also cause it. If the wheel turns without steering the tractor, look at rotor and fixed ring wear or a damaged non-return valve. To fix a leak at the steering unit, replace the Rotoglyd seal with tool 380000281.

How do I clear a fault code on a Case IH Quantum 85C?
Connect tool 380000843 to the diagnosis connection and turn the ignition to position B. The display shows HH MENU (page 1118). Read HB first. It stores up to 10 codes per module and shows the first occurrence, last occurrence and number of occurrences. It shows F 0 if there are none (page 1147). Write the codes down, because HC deletes them all. The display shows F CL. Hold the push-button in position B and it counts 5-4-3-2-1-EE. EE means the deletion is done (page 1149). p. 1147
What does an error code mean on a Quantum 75C and where do I start?
Start with the number, because it tells you which module logged it. The fault codes chapter at page 1003 splits them into groups. SA codes 1008-1081 cover the EDC rear electronic lift. SB codes 2011-2433 cover the Power Shuttle. Electric codes start at 13011, and ZA covers the ADIC control panel. Each entry lists the control module, possible fault modes and step-by-step remedies. Code 1040 on page 1026 is an example: lift not calibrated, logged by the rear electronic lift control unit. After a control unit replacement or a memory deletion in H8, the remedy is the lift calibration through the HH menu, program H1. p. 1003
How do I calibrate the Power Shuttle clutches on a Quantum 95C?
Get the transmission oil between 20 to 50 °C before you start (page 1118). With tool 380000843 connected, go into H1 for the SB module. The display shows CAL and the oil temperature. Select the fast range and engage 1st gear. Hold the engine at 1200 to 1300 rpm with the parking brake engaged. Release the clutch pedal and put the shuttle lever in forward. The clutches and synchronizer then calibrate automatically until the display shows End (page 1120). No tool? Fault code 2024 on page 1041 gives another way: hold the HOME push-button on the dashboard while starting. p. 1120
What are the torque specs on a Case IH Quantum 95C?
Torque values are in each chapter, not in one master list. On the rear lift (page 383), the lift cylinder front bolts are M 14 x 1.5 at 157 Nm. The top bolts are M 16 x 1.5 at 260 Nm. The lift-to-rear transmission housing bolts are M 12 x 1.25 at 98 Nm. The leading wheel-to-hub nut, M 18x1.5, is 115 Nm (page 590). If the steering unit leaks because its bolts are loose, they go to 24÷36 Nm (page 549). Can I overhaul the engine on a Quantum 65C or 75C with this book?
No. Better to know that before you split the tractor. The F5AE chapter for the 65C and 75C covers general specifications and engine removal-installation only (page 127). You get the F5AE9484 data: 3200 cm3, 99 mm bore x 104 mm stroke, 48 kW on the 65C and 57 kW on the 75C (page 128).
