Check coolant level immediately: system holds 28 gallons (106 L) including the filter. Inspect the radiator core for plugged fins and verify the thermostat is opening fully. Consult the Cooling System Troubleshooting chart on page 103 for a step-by-step flow. If coolant looks clean but temp keeps climbing, pull the temperature sensor and bench-test it before condemning the water pump.

Check transmission oil level first. Normal capacity is 42 qts (39.7 L) including filters on a standard change interval. Low or contaminated fluid starves the power shift clutch pack and causes exactly this symptom. Review the Transmission Troubleshooting chart on page 102 for no-travel and low-acceleration paths. If oil is full and clean, suspect a sticking hydraulic shift valve — cycle through the fault codes on the instrument panel before pulling the valve body.

Verify pump output: rated capacity is 35 gpm (132.5 L/min) at rated engine rpm. Then check main relief valve setting, which should hold at 2450 psi (169 bars). If pressure reads low at the test port, inspect the relief valve for debris or a worn seat before suspecting the pump. Adjustable flow control to remote outlets runs 12 to 25 gpm (45 to 95 L/min) — confirm the control isn't dialed too low for your implement's demand. Remote circuit relief is set at 2250 psi (155 bars); a valve stuck open there will bleed pressure under load.

Inspect the 24-volt starting system connections for corrosion at both battery terminals and the solenoid. Cold-weather starting procedure is covered in Operating Information starting on page 51. Verify fuel quality: water in the fuel lines gels before the tank does and is the most common cold-start culprit. Check the Engine Starting Troubleshooting section on page 104 for the hard-start diagnostic path, including air intake restriction checks.

Verify oil level against the 13.5 US gal. (51.2 L) full capacity including filters. Confirm oil isn't being diluted by fuel by smelling the dipstick sample — diesel contamination points to injector seal failure, not a lube circuit fault. Check the Engine Lubrication Troubleshooting path on page 103 for low-pressure and crankcase sludge root causes. If pressure is intermittent rather than steady-low, inspect the pressure relief valve in the oil circuit before pulling the pump.

Check wheel hub oil level: each hub holds approximately 10 qts (9.4 L). Center differential takes 38 qts (35.9 L). If ambient temps have been consistently above 90°F (32°C), the axle lube change interval drops to every 300 hours — confirm service records aren't running long. Torque wheel hub bolts to 600 lb ft (814 N·m) if there's any wobble. Low or contaminated hub oil is the leading cause of bearing heat before any mechanical failure develops.
