Yanmar
Yanmar repair manuals in PDF come in two groups: books for Yanmar machines and books for the Yanmar diesels inside them and inside many other brands’ equipment. The machine books cover ViO zero-tail-swing excavators from the ViO17 to the ViO80-1A, SV and B-series excavators, C-series crawler carriers, V-series wheel loaders, and EF and YM tractors. The engine books cover marine diesels such as the 3JH4E and 4JH4, the GM engines in older sailboats, and the TNV and TNE industrial families.
One TNV volume spans the three-cylinder 3TNV82A up to the turbocharged 4TNV106T, and electronic-control fault codes get a separate troubleshooting manual. Excavator books add the hydraulic circuit diagrams and machine wiring. Yanmar distributes this documentation through its dealers and distributors rather than selling it to owners.

Choosing the Right Yanmar Manual
Decide first whether the job is on the machine or on its engine. A swing motor leak on a ViO35-6A belongs in the excavator book among the Repair Manuals, while an injector or head job on its 3TNV88F engine is documented in the 3TNV88F engine manual. Parts Manuals are the largest Yanmar section, and many follow one exact engine build. Operator Manuals list the coolant and oil grades a GM or JH marine engine expects. YM tractors imported from Japan get little help from Yanmar’s US dealers, so the YM135 through YM330 shop manual fills that gap.
Are these real Yanmar factory manuals, and why can’t I just get one from a dealer?
Yanmar routes service information to its authorized dealers and distributors, and marine owners in particular often find the parts catalogs are not offered to them. The 4LH series service manual and the 1GM10, 2GM20, 3GM30, and 3HM35 manual carry the same specs and wiring diagrams the dealer works from.
My machine isn’t a Yanmar, but the engine is. How do I find the right manual?
Yanmar engine codes run like 3TNV88-BPTB2, and the one on the engine nameplate matters more than the machine decal. The first part is the engine model, and the suffix after the dash marks the build for a particular application, often one specific machine. That suffix is how this catalog matches engines to other makers’ equipment. The 3TNV88-BPTB2 parts catalog, for example, is the engine in the Takeuchi TB235. For repair procedures, the engine model alone is enough, because one service manual like the 2TNE68 through 4TNE84T manual covers the whole family.
