Part of the Case IH Repair Manuals.
A Maxxum that will not drive in any gear, jumps out of gear or shows a fault code on the dash is covered here. This is the Case IH service manual for the Maxxum 100, 110, 115, 120, 125, 130 and 140, with and without Multicontroller. It covers hydraulics, remote valves, the engine, the Mechanical, Power Shuttle and Semi-Powershift transmissions, the axles, brakes, cab and three-point hitch.
The wiring is split between 4 valve and 2 valve engine tractors. Each has its own schematic frames, connector pinouts and circuit numbers and colours. The fault code index and instrument channel diagnostics are in the electronic system chapter.
The part number is 84276322ANA (English, November 2010).

Case IH Maxxum 100–140 Common Problems This Manual Covers
Tractor will not drive in any gear
Start with the Clutch chapter, which has power coupling clutch technical data and troubleshooting. Then go to the troubleshooting charts in the chapter for your gearbox, either Mechanical and Power Shuttle or Semi-Powershift. On a tractor with electronic control, check the fault code index as well.
Manual Section: Clutch / Mechanical and Power Shuttle transmission / Semi-Powershift transmission p. 2761Transmission jumping out of gear
The Mechanical and Power Shuttle transmission chapter and the Semi-Powershift transmission chapter each have their own troubleshooting section. Use the one that matches your gearbox. If the tractor has creeper or overdrive reducers, those are covered separately in the Creeper, overdrive and PTO chapter.
Manual Section: Mechanical and Power Shuttle transmission / Semi-Powershift transmission p. 2941Noisy final drives
The Front and rear axles chapter covers the front axle, rear axle and final drives, with its own torques and troubleshooting. One torque it gives is 130 Nm (96 lb ft) for the front axle differential support cap retaining bolts. Use the listed figures when you put it back together.
Manual Section: Front and rear axles p. 3326Battery fails heavy load discharge test
A battery passes the heavy load test if it holds greater than 9.6 V. The listed ratings are 800 CCA (107 Ah) or 960 CCA (132 Ah), so compare your replacement against those. Battery testing is in the 2 valve engine schematic frames section. The starting system is covered in its own chapter.
Manual Section: Electrical power system - 2 valve engine tractors, schematic frames / Starting system p. 1442Frequently Asked Questions
What engine code does my Maxxum 110 have?
The book names engines only by type code. It lists the MAXXUM 110 under F4CE9484G*J, a 4 cylinder 2 valve engine rated 82 kW (110 Hp); the F4CE0484B*D is rated 74 kW (101 Hp) at 2200 RPM. The Engine chapter sets out the general specification code by code, along with the tightening torques. p. 2328
What is the hydraulic pump output on a Case IH Maxxum?
The variable displacement piston pump is rated at 113 l/min (29.8 US gpm) at 2200 RPM. Stand-by pressure is 23 bar +/- 1 and maximum system pressure is 210 bar +/- 5. The Primary hydraulic power system chapter has the hydraulic schemas. The Remote valves chapter covers the closed center mechanical, electro-hydraulic and open center mechanical remote hydraulics. p. 42
How do I read Maxxum fault codes on the instrument cluster?
Go to the Electronic system and fault codes chapter. It covers control module configuration, instrument channel diagnostics, calibration and the fault code index. Look up the code shown on the dash in the index. Then use the connector pinouts and circuit colours in the components and connectors chapter for your engine type to trace the wiring. p. 1970
Why does my Maxxum jump out of gear?
The book lists transmission jumping out of gear under troubleshooting. Which chart you use depends on the gearbox. Mechanical and Power Shuttle tractors have their own transmission chapter with troubleshooting. Semi-Powershift has a separate chapter. The creeper and overdrive reducers are covered on their own, alongside the PTO. p. 2630
My Maxxum is slow to crank or will not crank. How do I check the battery?
The listed battery ratings are 800 CCA (107 Ah) or 960 CCA (132 Ah). In the heavy load test, a battery passes if it holds greater than 9.6 V. Battery testing is covered in the 2 valve engine schematic frames section. Batteries on 4 valve tractors are covered in their own electrical power system section. The starting system has its own chapter. p. 1442
