On a 300D, 310D or 315D, hydraulic parts are where ordering questions start. Is it a Gresen or Husco valve, a Sunstrand or Commercial Intertech pump? Which side of the 802199/802200 serial break is your machine on? Parts catalog PC2321 (Jul-19) answers those questions with exploded drawings. Each drawing lists part number, quantity, serial range and a 300D/310D/315D column.

John Deere 300D, 310D, 315D Common Problems This Manual Covers
Ordering a loader or backhoe control valve part without knowing if the machine has a Gresen or a Husco valve.
Check your serial number against the split in the catalog. The loader control valve is Gresen up to 802199 (p.708) and Husco from 802200 (p.742 covers 802200-807613). The backhoe valve follows the same Gresen/Husco change: Gresen on p.940 and Husco on p.970. Match the drawing to the valve body before you order seals or spools.
Manual Section: 3160 Loader Hydraulics - Loader Control Valve p. 708The main hydraulic pump has failed and you don't know which pump the machine left the factory with.
Section 2160 lists two pumps split at the serial break. Up to 802199 it is the Sunstrand main hydraulic and steering pump on p.642. From 802200 it is the Commercial Intertech pump AT168186 on p.647. Read the machine's product identification number on the left-hand side frame near the front support first.
Manual Section: 2160 Vehicle Hydraulics - Main Hydraulic Pump p. 642A frame, fuel tank or hydraulic part shows up and doesn't fit, even though the model is right.
Many groups split at -802199 and 802200-, for example the main frame (p.438/p.440) and fuel tank (p.288/p.292). Page 5 explains how a serial range reads. It can mean from a number on, up to and including one, or between two numbers. Check the Serial No. column on every line before ordering.
Manual Section: Introduction - Serial Number Listing p. 5A piston or connecting rod was ordered for a turbo engine, but the machine has a non-turbo 4039 (or the other way round).
Read the engine plate first, then use the table on p.9 that maps each 4039 engine code to its machine. The Engine 4039 section gives turbocharged and non-turbocharged engines their own lists, such as p.180 with turbo and p.181 without. You will also find reman options there, like the SE501650 crankshaft.

Which John Deere backhoe loaders does parts catalog PC2321 cover?
It covers the 300D, 310D and 315D backhoe loaders and no other models. The book prints 1991-1996 as the build years for the 300D and 310D. It does not print production years for the 315D. Every parts list has 300D, 310D and 315D columns marked with an X, plus a Serial No. column. That lets you confirm a part fits your model before you order it. p. 1
How do I tell which 4039 engine my 300D, 310D or 315D has before ordering engine parts?
Read the engine serial number plate on the right-hand side of the cylinder block, near the fuel pump. In the code, 4039 means 3.9 liter, TT means turbocharged and DT means non-turbocharged. The 300D used the 4039DT007, DT010, DT012 and DT013. The 310D and 315D used the 4039DT008, DT014, TT002, TT003, TT004 and TT005. The engine section lists turbo and non-turbo parts separately, for example connecting rods and pistons on p.180 and p.181. p. 9
Where are the serial number plates on the John Deere 300D, 310D and 315D?
A machine can carry up to seven plates. The product identification number is on the left-hand side frame near the front support. The engine plate is on the right side of the block near the fuel pump. The reverser plate is on the top left of the reverser housing. The transmission plate is on the top right of the transmission. The MFWD axle plate is on the left-hand (rear) side of the axle housing. The extendible dipperstick number is on top of the dipperstick near the bucket cylinder mount. The book does not say where the hydraulic pump plate is. p. 6
Does the catalog list the hydraulic hoses, lines and fittings for the loader and backhoe?
Yes, hoses, lines and fittings are drawn with their part numbers. Vehicle hydraulics are in section 2160 (p.608-661), loader hydraulics in 3160 (p.708-801) and backhoe hydraulics in 3360/3360A (p.912-1062). Steering hoses are in 0960 (p.300-325). This is a parts book, so there is no hydraulic schematic. p. 613
Which filters for the 300D, 310D and 315D are listed, with part numbers?
The engine oil filter is T19044. The fuel filter is AR50041 up to serial 461565 and RE62419 from 461566. Turbocharged engines take an AT65296 primary and an AT44378 safety air cleaner element. The hydraulic oil filter is AT184206 up to 802199. From serial 802200, the transaxle filter assembly is listed as T19044.
