The counter hands over the wrong part because the 310G and 310SG got mixed up
Start in Introduction and Index to find the serial number locations, then read your plate. In each group, match your model and serial against the bracketed breaks like (310SG,315SG)(SN 926789-). Give the counter your number and serial, not a description of the part.

Look up the exact number instead of matching by size. The Engine group lists the oil filter RE59754 on page 185 and the high capacity RE67764 on page 189. Engine Auxiliary Systems lists the air filters KV16429 and AT171854 on page 291. Vehicle Hydraulics lists AT308274 on page 559.

Go to the hydraulic cylinders pages in the Backhoe group and find the cylinder by position: boom, dipperstick, bucket or stabilizer. Each exploded view shows the cylinder's parts and serial breaks. Order against the cylinder you actually have on the machine, not one from a similar model.

Open Wheels and Tires and find the powered wheels pages. Page 46 lists AT309100 as the rear wheel for the 16.9 X 28 tire. Check the fastenings on the same pages before ordering, so the rim and its studs and nuts arrive together.

How do I read the serial breaks so I order the part that fits my machine?
Every group tags parts with ranges such as (310G)(SN -910900) or (310SG,315SG)(SN 926789-). A dash in front of the number means up to that serial. A dash after it means from that serial on. Read the plate before you open the book, because the 310G and the SG models often take different parts for the same job. p. 4
Which engine oil filter does the catalog list?
The standard engine oil filter is RE59754 on page 185. A high capacity filter, RE67764, is listed on page 189. Check which oiling system page matches your engine and serial range before ordering. The two filters aren't interchangeable by guesswork. p. 185
What are the air filter and hydraulic filter numbers?
The primary air filter is KV16429 and the secondary is AT171854, both on page 291. The hydraulic oil filter is AT308274 on page 559. Write all three on the inside of the cab door and save yourself a trip back to this page. p. 291
Which engine is in my 310G?
Page 15 lists the PE4045DT056 for the 310G up to VSN 911768. Engine parts like pistons, gaskets and turbocharger pieces follow the engine model, not just the machine model. Confirm the engine serial plate on the block before ordering anything internal. p. 15
