All 986 pages of this John Deere 3325, 3365 technical manual PDF (OEM TM1427) go after one job: keeping your Professional Turf Mower cutting clean and running strong. You get factory wiring schematics for the full harness, hydraulic, hydrostatic and steering schematics, and repair procedures for the hydrostatic transmission, transaxle, final drives, steering, brakes, hydraulic pumps and valves, rockshaft, and cutting units. A dedicated operational checkout section lets you verify every repair before the machine leaves the shop, and troubleshooting charts walk you through diagnosis system by system. Set fan belt tension to 13 mm of deflection at 95 N (20 lb) of applied force, and test the rockshaft relief valve against 14617 kPa (2120 psi). Deere sends internal Yanmar engine, injection pump, starter and alternator overhaul to CTM3 and reel cutting unit rebuild to TM1528, so this book covers engine removal, cooling and diagnosis rather than a bottom-end teardown. The 3365 Rear Wheel Assist supplement (TM1427S) is bound in at the back. Your mower is down and the fairways will not wait. Get the factory answer, not forum guesses. Bookmarked and keyword-searchable; pull it up on your phone beside the machine and get back to work.

John Deere 3325, 3365 Common Problems This Manual Covers

John Deere 3325 engine cranks but won't start, runs rough and misses after sitting over winter

Drain stale fuel and refill the 75 L (20 gal) tank with fresh fuel, then replace the fuel filter. Work through the hard start procedures beginning, checking fuel delivery before chasing compression. Verify the engine pulls its 2800 rpm fast idle spec once it runs clean.

Manual Section: Engine Diagnosis, Tests, & Adjustments
Starter won't crank, clicks once then nothing, battery seems fine on the charger

Load test the battery before anything else: open circuit voltage must read 12.4 volts minimum per page 630, and it must hold above 9.6 volts under load, page 632. Replace it if it fails either number. Clean and tighten both cable ends, then run the cranking circuit tests in the electrical section.

Manual Section: Electrical Operation, Tests and Adjustments p. 630
Cutting units won't raise or lower, lift lever does nothing, hydraulic pump whines under load

Check hydraulic oil level first; the system holds 26.5 L (7 gal), and a whining pump usually means it is sucking air. Fill and inspect for leaks. Test rockshaft relief pressure against the 14617 kPa (2120 psi) spec on page 876. If pressure won't build, run the lift system diagnosis starting on page 799 before condemning the pump.

Manual Section: Hydraulic System Operation, Tests and Adjustments p. 799
Reels turn slow and bog down in heavy grass, speed drops after machine warms up

Verify hydraulic oil level; low oil aerates, overheats, and kills reel speed once the machine gets hot. Change the hydraulic oil filter, then confirm reel circuit pressure: a clogged element opens the hydraulic filter bypass relief valve at 138-207 kPa (20-30 psi), page 20, and starves the reel motors. Check the reel relief valve against its 20684 kPa (3000 psi) setting before condemning a motor, then run the cutting unit motor tests.

Manual Section: Hydraulic System Operation, Tests and Adjustments p. 799
Fan belt squeals at full throttle, engine runs hot mowing in summer heat

Check fan belt tension: deflection should be 13 mm (1/2 in.) with 95 N (20 lb) of force applied midway between pulleys, per the checkout procedure on page 357. Adjust or replace a glazed belt. Blow chaff out of the radiator fins and screen; a clean core cools better than any new part.

Manual Section: Operational Checkout Procedure p. 357

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check the starter battery voltage on a John Deere 3325?

To check the battery voltage, set a voltmeter to the DC volts position. Connect the positive (red) lead to the battery positive post and the negative (black) lead to ground. The minimum voltage should be 12.4 volts. p. 536

What are the replacement specifications for the battery on a John Deere 3325/3365?

The battery size for the 3325 and 3365 is a BCI Group 24 F, with a minimum of 550 Cold Cranking Amps. p. 19

What is the correct torque for the engine mounting bracket-to-frame cap screws?

The engine mounting bracket-to-frame cap screws and nuts should be torqued to 44–54 N·m (33–40 lb-ft). p. 23

What is the procedure for checking the engine oil pressure on a John Deere 3325/3365?

To test the engine oil pressure, remove the oil pressure sender and install a JT03349 connector. Connect a JT05577 Pressure Gauge Assembly and JT03017 Hose Assembly. Start the engine and run for approximately 5 minutes to heat the oil. The engine oil pressure should be 294–440 kPa (2.9–4.4 bar) (43–64 psi). p. 439

What is the specified valve clearance for the engine?

The valve clearance for both intake and exhaust valves is 0.20 mm (0.008 in.) when the engine is cold. p. 357
