This is TM6032, the factory repair manual for the John Deere 5425, 5625 and 5725 series, including the HC high-crop and N narrow builds sold from 2002 to 2008. Across 1191 pages you get the actual removal, installation and torque procedures Deere dealers used: the 4.5 L four-cylinder engine and cooling system, mechanical distributor-pump fuel system, 9/3 collar shift and synchronized gearboxes, the 12/12 PowrReverser, MFWD, brakes, hydrostatic steering, the open-center hydraulic system with rockshaft and selective control valves, plus cab, ROPS and A/C work. Note the split: this book is the repair volume. Tests and adjustments live in the companion TM6033, so buy this one when parts are coming off the tractor.

John Deere 5425/5625/5725 Series Common Problems This Manual Covers

Engine running hot, coolant loss or a stuck thermostat

Section 20, Group 10 walks through thermostat removal and installation at page 130 and radiator removal and inspection at page 123, with the cooling system capacity of about 11.4 L so you refill correctly instead of guessing.

Manual Section: Section 20 - Engine Repair, Group 10: Cooling System p. 130
Tractor will not crank, dead battery or charging trouble

Section 40 starts with battery removal and installation at page 180 for the 12V, 550 CCA system, then moves through starter and alternator/regulator replacement in the same group, with component locations so you are not hunting connectors blind.

Manual Section: Section 40 - Electrical Repair, Group 05/10 p. 180
SCV not holding a loader or remote cylinder, hydraulic leak-down

Section 70 gives the dual selective control valve service procedure at page 908 and the single SCV at page 924, with the actual reassembly torques (12 Nm dual SCV cap screws, 4 Nm single SCV retainer screw) so the valve seals instead of weeping again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this manual cover the HC and N versions, or just the base 5425/5625/5725?

All eight builds are in here: 5425, 5625, 5725, plus the 5425HC/5625HC/5725HC high-crop and 5425N/5725N narrow tractors. Where a variant differs, like final axle spacers on the HC or the narrow operator station, the manual has its own procedures. One book does the whole family. p. 1

Is this the diagnostic manual with tests and adjustments?

No, and it matters. This is TM6032, the repair volume: teardown, inspection, reassembly and torque values. Pressure tests, adjustments and operational checks are in the companion volume TM6033. And to be clear about the era: these are mechanical-injection tractors with no ECU, so there are no electronic fault codes to read on any 5x25 of this generation. p. 1

Does the electrical section include full wiring schematics?

Straight answer: no. Section 40 gives you battery, starter and alternator removal and installation, component locations and harness routing illustrations, down to details like the blade terminals on the back of a switch. It does not contain numbered-wire circuit schematics. p. 191

Does it cover the PowrReverser transmission rebuild?

Yes. Section 50 covers the clutch housing and clutch assembly, the CollarShift and SyncShuttle boxes, and the 12/12 PowrReverser that was optional on the 5625 and 5725. It also takes you through the rear PTO drive shaft, differential, final drives, MFWD and the creeper assembly. p. 289

Are real torque specs included, or is it generic?

Real, machine-specific numbers throughout. As a sample from the hydraulic section: dual SCV cap screws at 12 Nm, single SCV retainer screw at 4 Nm and its cap screws at 7 Nm, wheel bolts at 175 Nm. That level of detail runs through the engine, driveline and axle procedures too. p. 908
