Covering four New Holland T5 tractors, T5040 through T5070, this 312-page Operator Manual (OEM ID 84339665) is the factory owner's book for each of them. Your New Holland T5060 operator manual PDF explains every transmission build, from range gear with shuttle to Electro-Hydraulic Dual Command, and decodes each fault code and warning light on the instrument panel. Field chapters set up the PTO, three-point linkage, remote valves, wheel track and ballast, while the maintenance schedule runs from 10-hour checks to the 1800-hour service. Check the lift pump relief valve against 190 bar (2755 psi), and run rear rim disk locknuts to 245 N·m (180 ft lb). Tractor identification pages put the right serial in front of the parts counter so the filter you order fits the first time, and the bookmarked, text-searchable file finds any page quickly.

New Holland T5040, T5050, T5060, T5070 Common Problems This Manual Covers

New Holland T5040, T5050, T5060, T5070 engine will not start or starts with difficulty

Check fuel level and confirm the correct starting procedure, but never use ether with the grid heater installed; page 117 warns it will explode in the intake manifold. With the engine stopped (page 197), bleed air from the fuel system, replace a clogged fuel filter element, and clean a contaminated system. Match fuel and oil viscosity to ambient temperature. Injector faults go to your dealer.

Manual Section: Engine Troubleshooting p. 268
Engine overheating and temperature gauge climbing while pulling a heavy implement under load

Stop the engine before any check, as page 197 requires. Top up coolant in the expansion tank and engine oil, then look for leaking hoses and tighten the connectors. Clean a clogged radiator core, but never direct cold water jets at a hot engine (page 9). Check the fan belt tensioning device, replace a defective radiator cap, and check the thermostat. If overload is the cause, drop a gear or reduce the load.

Manual Section: Engine Troubleshooting p. 269
Starter motor cranks slowly or does not work when turning the key

Move the gear lever to neutral first; never disconnect the start-up safety switch to get around it (page 17). Clean and tighten loose or corroded connections, then check that battery charge is at least 12.6 volts along with electrolyte level and specific gravity, per page 270. Charge or replace totally flat batteries, and run engine oil of the viscosity specified for the temperature.

Manual Section: Electrical System Troubleshooting p. 270
Battery charge light stays on with the engine running or batteries not charging

Stop the engine before checking anything, as page 197 requires. Check the alternator belt tensioning device and replace a loose or worn belt. Clean and tighten loose or corroded terminals, then verify battery charge is at least 12.6 volts with correct electrolyte level and specific gravity. Raise a low idle speed. If the light stays on or flashes, have your dealer check the alternator.

Manual Section: Electrical System Troubleshooting p. 270
Hydraulic system not working properly or hydraulic fluid overheating while using the remote control valves

Park on level ground with the hydraulic cylinders fully extended and the engine stopped before checking oil level (page 197). Top up if low or correct it if too high, and replace a clogged hydraulic filter. Set flow regulation to a lower capacity. Do not alter relief valve calibration (page 17), and keep clear of pressurized oil leaks, which page 20 warns cause serious injury. Otherwise, contact your dealer.

Manual Section: Hydraulic System Troubleshooting p. 271
Three-point linkage lifts slowly in draft control or will not lift fully

Adjust the combined draft/position control first, following the chart on page 271. If the linkage stops short, adjust the link arm top limiter; if it will not move at all, check that the linkage cylinder tubes are connected correctly and reduce the load. Slow lowering speed means having the control valve checked. A fault code signal from the electronic lift goes to an authorized dealer so you can get back in the field.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reset the transmission or shuttle error on my New Holland tractor?

If an error code 'N' appears in the performance display, depress the clutch pedal and shift the shuttle lever to neutral to clear the display and re-engage the drive. How do I bleed the fuel system on my New Holland T5000 series tractor?

To bleed the fuel system after changing the filter cartridge, remove the retaining pin (5) and disconnect the pipe from the filter head. Pump the primer lever (3) until the fuel coming out of the filter contains no air bubbles, then refit the pipe and pin correctly. p. 229
