Covering operation, daily care and setup for the New Holland TM series, this 379-page Operator Manual (OEM ID 604.53.261.00) spans five tractor variants from the TM115 to the TM165. As a New Holland TM150 operator manual PDF, it sets out the lubrication chart and every service interval from the 10-hour daily check to the 1800-hour service. Fault-finding charts sort symptoms by engine, each transmission type (Synchro, Dual, Range and Power Command), hydraulics, three-point linkage, brakes, cab and electrical. Calibrate a Dual Command transmission only once the oil reaches 20° C (68° F) or over, and torque the PTO output shaft securing nuts to 162 Nm (120 lbf ft). Ordering a replacement PTO output shaft? Both the 6-spline and 21-spline versions are listed at 1.375 in. (34.9 mm), so you can confirm your fit first. Bookmarked by chapter and searchable, the file goes wherever the tractor sits, ready for your next wheel track or ballast change.

New Holland TM115–TM165 Series Common Problems This Manual Covers

New Holland TM115 TM125 TM135 TM150 TM165 engine overheating in field work, temperature gauge reading high

Check the radiator pressure cap only once the engine has cooled. Use a cloth, turn it to the first stop and let pressure subside before removing it (page 21 warning). Replace the cap if faulty; it is rated 1.0 bar on page 357. Check the fan belt and automatic tensioner, tighten or replace leaking hoses, and flush a blocked system per page 315. A malfunctioning viscous fan is a dealer job.

Manual Section: Engine Troubleshooting p. 315
Diesel engine will not start or is difficult to start in low ambient temperatures

Check the starting procedure and fuel level first, then replace clogged fuel filter elements per page 313. Bleed the fuel system if air is in the lines; clean and bleed it if the fuel is contaminated. Check the fuse before condemning the fuel pump. In cold weather use the Thermostart aid, and never use ether with Thermostart installed, since it will explode in the intake manifold (page 133).

Manual Section: Engine Troubleshooting p. 313
Range Command or Power Command transmission gives jerky gear shifting and poor inching control at the clutch pedal

Verify oil temperature, then perform the transmission clutch calibration: Power Command needs 60° C (140° F) to 105° C (221° F) per page 297, Range Command 20° C (68° F) to 50° C (122° F) per page 294. Keep hands away from hot transmission oil pipes (page 294). Until calibration is complete the tractor may be jerky, so pull away using the clutch pedal very carefully (page 299). Persistent faults go to your dealer.

Manual Section: Transmission (Range Command or Power Command) Troubleshooting p. 316
Three-point linkage lower links do not move when the lift control lever is moved

Check the display for an error code first; per page 320, a code means a call to your authorised dealer. With no code, put the lift control lever back in phase with the lower links, return the fast raise switch from the external control position, and adjust the height limit control. Before the implement lowers, check the area beneath it so no injury or damage is caused (page 134).

Manual Section: Three-Point Linkage Troubleshooting p. 320
Remote hydraulics implement cylinder does not operate when the remote control valve lever is moved

Check that the implement hoses are attached correctly, then verify the remote control valve lever moves freely; adjust the cables or see your dealer, per page 319. With the engine stopped (page 238), check hydraulic oil level and replace blocked hydraulic oil filters. If the load exceeds system capacity, reduce it or fit the correct size cylinder through your dealer. An error code also means a dealer visit.

Manual Section: Hydraulics Troubleshooting p. 319
Starter motor inoperative or starter speed slow, engine cranks slowly at startup

Verify all gear shift levers are in neutral and the clutch pedal is fully depressed; never bypass the transmission neutral start switches (page 16). Clean and tighten battery and starter motor connections, then check battery open circuit voltage for a minimum of 12.6 volts per page 322. Wear eye protection near batteries, since they contain sulphuric acid (page 310). Charge or replace dead batteries.

Manual Section: Electrical System Troubleshooting p. 322
