This is TM607019, the factory repair manual for John Deere 5083E and 5093E utility tractors built from 2008 to 2013 - 1103 pages of teardown and reassembly work. It walks the Tier 3 PowerTech diesel from cylinder head to crankshaft, covers the PowrReverser transmission, MFWD, brakes, power steering, the open-center hydraulics with rockshaft and SCV, plus cab, HVAC and operator station. Section 10 alone runs over a hundred pages of specs: capacities, dimensions, repair tolerances, and full metric and inch torque charts. Section 99 even includes drawings so you can fabricate the dealer service tools yourself. One note up front: this is the repair book. Diagnostics and full wiring schematics live in its sibling, TM607119.

John Deere 5083E-5093E Common Problems This Manual Covers

Ignition fuse blows at key-on, then no start, no RPM reading, neutral light and PTO drop out

Nine times out of ten on these it's a shorted cold start sensor that has fried the two center console relays and the diode block beside them. Section 40 Electrical Repair covers replacing the sensor, relays, diode block and any cooked harness sections, with connector repair procedures included.

Manual Section: Section 40 - ELECTRICAL REPAIR
Engine runs rough, misfires, or burns oil between services

Rough running with oil consumption on the PowerTech diesel usually comes down to worn rings or hardened valve stem seals. Section 20 Engine Repair walks the full teardown - cylinder head, valves, pistons, rings and crankshaft - with wear limits and reassembly torques so you know whether parts are reusable.

Manual Section: Section 20 - ENGINE REPAIR
Hydraulics sluggish or dead - slow rockshaft, weak loader, hard steering under load

Contaminated or low fluid quietly eats the pump and valves on these. Section 70 Hydraulic Repair covers pump removal and rebuild, SCV service, rockshaft and hitch repair, and cylinder resealing. Cross-check your readings against the spec sheet: implement circuit should hold 18995-19692 kPa (2755-2856 psi) at relief.

Manual Section: Section 70 - HYDRAULIC REPAIR
Clutch slipping or PowrReverser shifting harsh, jumping out of gear

Section 50 Power Train Repair is the biggest section in the book at over 200 pages, covering clutch replacement and adjustment, PowrReverser transmission disassembly and reassembly, MFWD, differential and final drives. It includes the clearances and torques that separate a lasting rebuild from a comeback job.

Frequently Asked Questions

My 5083E blows the ignition fuse at key-on, then I lose RPMs, the neutral light and the PTO. Does this manual help?

That pattern is the known one on these tractors: a shorted cold start sensor takes out the two center console relays and the diode block next to them. Section 40 (Electrical Repair, pages 231-406) covers replacing those components and the wiring harnesses. Keep in mind the fault-tracing flowcharts and full schematics are in the diagnosis manual TM607119 - this book is for the actual replacement work once you know what died.

Does this manual include the full wiring schematics?

No, and it's worth being straight about that. Deere split these tractors into two books: this repair manual (TM607019) has wiring harness replacement procedures, connector work, alternator, starter and lighting repair in Section 40. The complete electrical schematics and diagnostic procedures are in the diagnosis manual, TM607119. If you're chasing a gremlin, you may want both. If you already know the part that failed, this book gets it swapped correctly.

Are torque specs included for engine and transmission work?

Yes. Section 10 has the general metric and inch torque value charts, and every repair procedure in Sections 20 through 90 lists its own fastener torques inline - head bolts, main caps, transmission housing, final drives, the lot. That's the real value of the factory book over guessing from a generic chart: the spec sits right in the step where you need it, with the tightening sequence where one applies.

Can I use this to reset error codes on the display?

Code reading, code definitions and reset procedures are diagnosis-manual territory (TM607119), not this book. What this repair manual does cover is the instrument panel itself - removal, replacement and repair of the cluster and controls in Section 90 (Operator Station, pages 910-1100), plus the electrical component repair behind it in Section 40. So: codes tell you what's wrong, this book tells you how to fix it.

Which tractors exactly does this cover, and does it handle both cab and open station?

It covers the 5083E (61.5 kW / 82 hp) and 5093E (69 kW / 92 hp), model years 2008-2013, in both open operator station and cab configurations. Section 10 lists specs for each separately - for example unladen mass runs 2685 kg for an OOS 5083E up to 3234 kg for a cab 5093E - and Section 90 covers the full cab, seat, HVAC and controls for cab units.
