Transmission stuck in neutral or hard to shift
Nine times out of ten on these it is a stuck or rusty speed shift linkage or a misadjusted interlock cable, not a dead gearbox. The PowrQuad Transmission section walks you through the shift control and PowrQuad module so you can free up or replace the linkage before committing to a split.

Start with the battery, its connections and the starter circuit wiring - corroded terminals and tired connectors cause most no crank complaints on these. Water, dirt or air in the fuel is the classic cause, followed by clogged fuel filters or a restricted air cleaner. Does this manual show how to clear fault codes or reset the service reminder?
No, and it is better you know that before buying. This is the repair (workshop) manual - it covers removal, installation and reconditioning of components, not diagnostic code lists or reset menus. If a code led you to a failed part, this book gets you through the actual repair: pulling the ECU, replacing the shift unit, rebuilding the brakes. For code definitions you need the separate diagnosis manual.
My 6115R has the AutoPowr/IVT transmission. Is it covered, or just PowrQuad?
Both. There is a dedicated AutoPowr/IVT section covering the shift units, input housing, output housing and differential drive shaft, and a separate PowrQuad section covering shift control, the PowrQuad module, the creeper transmission and the range transmission. The transmission oil on my 6125R keeps overheating. Will this manual help me find it?
Yes, because the usual suspects are all serviceable with this book: a clogged transmission/hydraulic oil filter, a dirty oil cooler, low oil supply or an internal leak. The Hydraulic System section covers the oil filter, charge pump and control blocks, and the cooling system section handles the cooler side. Work through those before you blame the gearbox itself. p. 599
Does it cover the suspended front axle and cab suspension, or just the solid axle?
There is a full Suspension Systems section for the suspended MFWD front axle and the cab suspension - these R series tractors are common with both options, and the repair procedures for each are included. I need to work on the rear PTO. What does the manual say about it?
The Drive Train section covers the PTO options along with the U joint shafts, torsion dampers, MFWD, differential and final drives. The rear PTO on these tractors is independent and engages under load. If the PTO clutch pack is slipping under a baler or the shaft needs service, the disassembly procedure is in this section. Engine speed for PTO operation is printed on p67: 1932-2037 rpm for the 540 and 1000 rpm rear PTO, and 1575-1785 rpm for the 540E economy setting. p. 497
